Default new Alpine INE-Z928 8" Double Din installed.....

OK, so its been about 3+ yrs. of having to close my foldout Alpine (IVA-D310) so I could get heat/air from the center vent.

In that time I have researched most all possible choices for a DD setup. Having always been an Alpine fan, I wasn't very intrigued with their last few offerings so I've just kept hoping that Alpine would step up their game.

So a couple weeks ago I'm surfing around and come across their latest piece...the INE-Z928HD. It is the first 8" screen offered for the automotive industry. It has Bluetooth phone/Pandora/audio streaming from my Android phone (HTC Rezound), full navigation, DVD, etc. and I also added the Sirius/XM module to keep my Hair Nation and Boneyard music fix. I also figured since i was going this far, I might as well add the backup camera which is installed in the black anodized Alpine license plate frame.

So I contact my local Alpine dealer and car audio specialists and setup the purchase and install.

One week later, here is the before (monitor closed) and after result:

This unit is so freaking amazing and it fits right in with my PDX tri-amp setup and Alpine mids/tweets in the doors and the JL Audio sub in the Stealthbox.

peace,

Rich

janky, after giving them my checklist (ergonomically correct, as factory look as possible, shifter clearance) the shop modified my original bezel to accept the new piece. the case size is a standard double din, but the "face" extends about a 1/2" to 3/4" lower along the bottom so there was no way of salvaging the ashtray/cig lighter. i dont smoke anyways so it was an easy decision to make.

they did a great job of pulling off the mod and install.

You can keep the ashtray and lighter if it is done right. See mine from DoubleD Mods-

Hey, grimlock....I wanted to keep the ashtray, etc., but with this new 8" monitor, theres no way we could've kept the ashtray. The monitor face is taller than a std DD, so if u look close, there was no way all three things were gonna be able to be salvaged no matter how thin the "dividers" were fabbed. And like I said, I don't smoke so no loss for me.

Default Loving the Vette

I just discovered this 8" Alpine and was debating on installing it. I had concerns about it looking overwhelmingly to big, but it looks great. As long as it works great and you have no problems I think this is the radio. It also seems it will work with an android as well from what I understand.
