Thats IT!...im raising my Z06 back to normal height!
Well im gonna go ahead and raise my Z06 back to stock height!, I dont know what's wrong but i cant seem to sit my car were i want it . Either the back is too low or the front looks to high. When I FIRST lowered it, it sat good...but now im just getting FED up with it .
And since i have had it aligned...it makes a noise from the rear and i think its cause of the right rear wheel being real close to the lower rear leaf spring . The dealer was saying that it was hitting a wheel weight...i know this was caused by bringing the wheels back in to correct the alignment form having it lowered...so that means that it would actually sit closer to loweri rear leaf spring anyway
So...BACK UP IT GOES ! i know it looks good lowered and ALL but im tired of the way it sits and the noise's AND having the right rear wheel being that CLOSE to the rear lower leaf spring
So the people who is thinking about lowering your Z06........
DONT DO IT :nono: :smash: :smash:

I thihk you went too low! I remember seeing it when you posted after you first lowered! Lower only as far as the stock bolts allow, don't cut bushings and you'll be fine.
2 threads showing in the rear, & no gap in the front and you'll be fine :chevy

Ok, I am going to be counter point guy. My car is lowered about two inches all the way around. No problems or weird noises. The only thing negative is the front end is somewhat harsher, nothing major but I wanted to mention it to be totaly honest. Would I do it again on my next one..........as soon as I got it home from the dealer!!! :smash:

I like the lowered look BUT it's such an awsome ALLAROUND car as deliverd. I am more than hesatent to screw it up. Thay do look cooler lower, but my front spoiler hits on these new england cow paths enough now. Ric

Z06This, sorry for the prob............
BUT, for all you guy's who THINK the Z is too high..........
Well, it was made that way for a reason, and it didn't become King of the Super Cars the past two years, slammed.........
Sometimes, (not often) the folks who actually design & build them......DO know what they are doing..........
Just like women..........LOOKS ain't everything..........just ask Sampson. :D

I'm sorry there were problems with the car mentioned above.
But, don't forget the video you received with your Z06 includes directions on how to lower the car. Evidently GM considered lowering since it was included on the tape.
Mine has been at stock height since I purchased it more than a year ago. I think I'll take the plunge. Wish me luck.

Guy's to each his own, GM put that in the tape for AutoX, and road courses, NOT for street use.......
Do you think all the mag tests were done with altered cars??
For times, and braking, 1/4 mile, 0-60, etc.........I think not......
For track use, yeah, go ahead.....for us mere mortals, not for me thanks. :D

Seems to me lowering the Z is a bad move all around...It screws up the handling , turns it into a pavement scraper, i never have got the point..If it helped the handling, i could see it.. BUT to each theyre own...

Who says it screws up the handling?? Ever watch your GM video that came with your car?? I lowered mine, it handles like it is on rails! You haven't lowered yours, so how would you know. Like you said though, to each his own. I already own a 4x4, I didn't need two.

Z06This,
Both C5s I owned I lowered 1 1/4" the next day after getting them home.
Absolutely no problems in 3 years except the occasional scrape of the front air dam.
How about this; get the car back to stock ride height and lower it from there just 2 threads front and rear. Drive it for a month and see how you like it. If it is fine then lower it another 2 threads and so on. When you reach the desired height then have it aligned.
If GM says you can lower the Z06 15mm for racing then you can bet it does not screw up the handling. I have had both my C5s on road courses.
BTW: 15mm is about 5/8". That amount of drop is very noticeable and should be enough to get rid of that 4x4 look.

I lowered 1/2 the distance available and have absolutely no problems and handling is great. I was advised by the roadcourse gurus to lower.

The video that comes with the Z06 explains how to lower the car, the handling improves with lowering as well, the only down side is the plastic front spoiler rubs the ground, for $25.00 I will replace that every few years.

I like where mine is at, stock. Sure, it looks cool lowered, they sit too high stock. If I knew I could do it right and have no problems I'd be more inclined to do it. I worried about things screwing up, like what happened to you...

Hi Maalox -
The video tells you how to lower your car for competition, not for street.
I prefer to lowered look, but I have not lowered mine - and probably will not.
best regards -

I agree he went to far, but if he wants it back stock let him do it.
