I own an '03 Z, an '02 Viper GTS and have a friend that owns an '06 Ford GT. The FGT is a great car, well balanced, and has great powerband throughout the entire rev band. I've driven this car on a long 8 hour trip and I can tell you that the seats are pretty darn hard after a few hours, but the car does drive smooth and on one stretch on the highway we got 21.2 mpg in 6th gear at a constant 72 mph. Going this easy, the manifold vacuum around 16-18 lbs (opposite of boost). My friend's FGT, he added his own cruise control (they don't come with one from the factory) which really helped on the long trip.
The dual-clutch is buttery smooth and engages positively...the best I've ever driven and the car is easy to shift once you get used to the stalk that's somewhat angled toward you.
The trunk space in front, or the lack thereof, well, let's just say there's only room to carry a small briefcase or the car cover there. The rest could tuck under your legs. You at 6-4", you might be rubbing your head on the roof, try sitting in one with the seat back and angled before you decide. Even though the FGT is wider inside (less clausterphobic), I actually think my GTS has more headroom...I'm 5-8 and never worry about headroom but it's something to consider at your height.
As with most exotic/sports cars, have to watch the front overhang, the wide rear track and the rear hanging diffuser on the dips and speed bumps.
I've driven a Gallardo and I think the FGT is faster. I don't know about the Murcielago or a GT3-RS as I have not driven one. Stock for stock, the FGT should pull away from a C6 Z06, but I doubt if it will stay up with the new ZR1. Keep in mind there's no traction control nanny on the FGT, as it should be. Whichever you choose, they're all great cars. Good luck!

At the local track (Ennis) the ford GTs get dusted constantly by stock C6Zs and decently modded C5s (450-500rwhp+). The best time I have seen a Ford GT lay down in stock trim is an 11.70 (w/drag radials). Now take a look at the C5Z/C6Z fast list. These times are not some internet conspiracy, as there are several local C6Zs breaking into the 10's with nothing more than a set of drag radials.

Not surprising at all. The FGT's have a very long 1st gear, it will go over 60 mph in 1st. I would grab 3rd gear in my C5Z before the FGT even grabs 2nd. They weren't meant to be drag racers, rather road courses and top speeds of over 200.

On a road course the C6Z and Ford GT are pretty evenly matched for sure. The C6Z surpasses 60mph in first gear as well.
Have you considered a Mosler? They can be had with an LS7 and only weigh 2000lbs! Talk about cool and rare! If I could afford one, I'd order one tomorrow and keep my highly modded C5z too!
Anyways, the GT I posted is insane and a little over the top with the lights. But, there was a GT with the same turbo kit tested in the 0-200-0 shootout. It went 0-200 in 18 seconds, and 0-200-0 in 26 seconds. Untouchable, and still a daily driver.
FWTW doesn`t the ford GT get like 6 miles to the gallon?....It was a running joke with those British car guys, every time they went to the dude driving the ford GT he was at a different gas station....it was funny!
in response: ACR is too cool, would grab 1, but I just don't fit!--I'm 218 lbs, but 6'4''...even with seat lowering its just too damn little space. Drove the M3---way too much body lean and no engine (though it was last yr's model). Anyone else heard that FGT get 6/mph?? seems impossibly low. Again, who thinks Feb, Mar will bring better prices as the world continues to crumble. thanks, bma
The only prices to fall on the gt's will be in red and white, least valued colors the cheapest you will find will be @ 140k for a red one. No matter what color you get there way cool, and will draw a mega crowd. I pulled up at the local Ford Dealer in my first one and I counted 38 people within 5 minutes had walked up to drool The whole dealership shut down while I was there. If you buy one you won't regret it , They are better than Stocks..
I could do w/o all the little lights..its a bit over the top for a car like that..but hey if your buying...Im driving!
The owner of that car Shelby at Elite Autos knows his cars. Also with a car and house like that, he could put christmas lights on his car and still be cool!

I'd love to hear from owners of the 3. No way I'm parting with my Z... that's not the issue... but I'm looking for something to put in that empty slot in my garage, and I'm very close to grabbing an FGT. Would love to get performance and other cogent opinions from guys that have Z and FGT or Z and GT3, or mercy, all 3!!. bma2

In the Car & Driver 0-200-0 shootout the Lingenfelter TT Z06 did not receive a verified time because of some pretty bad luck. The Z06 driver aborted the first run due to a botched launch and then during the second run there were problems with Car & Driver's data acquisition devices which rendered the time unusable. Some engine problems forced Lingenfelter to call it a day after that. It is a shame because the TT Z06 was proven to do 0-200 in 18.34 seconds (w/93 octane) to the Ford GT's 18.9 seconds. It would have been pretty damn close.
The new GT2 is out......sweet ride......what about a couple year old Carrera GT? I too love the Ford GT.....way more rarity then any Porsche (other then Carrera GT). The Nissan GTR V-Spec is out soon....though not sure if destined for US soil. I've always been partial to Roush Stangs, I know it is a different price point....but the limited numbered Track Pack version of the Roush 427R Stang is unreal. Blows a Shelby GT 500 away. Oh yeah, that GT 500KR is sweet too.......oh the choices......... the answer in one word....ZR1.
