Follow Up To Rock Chip; Before And After Shots
Don't know how or when but I picked up my first BIG paint chip in the hood about a week ago. A club member has a paint shop where he does work on the side on the weekends. He worked his magic on my Z16 Saturday. We still have a little build up in one area to work on due to the proximity of chip to the stipe but I'm very happy with the outcome. In person, if you know where to look, you can see where the hood was repaired; but 99% of the people looking will never be able to see the repair...and before the repair it really stood out! Big thanks to Seth! Following is a step-by-step...
Before
After shot, no flash
After shot, with flash
Step 1. Prep to protect other areas of the car
Step 2. Wet sand the chip
Step 3. Chip after sanding
Step 4. Airbrush color in
Step 5. After airbrush, color on
Step 6. Adding Clear
Step 7 - 1,000....After several steps of let clear dry/sand/add more clear...the final shot!
Thanks again Seth!

LT1driver - I was a Loggie as well - Ground Ammo. Spent 13 years enlisted doing neat stuff while supplying the OP Forces with what I called “31 flavors” of bullets. Got picked up in the WO program and spent 4 years behind a desk. Got lucky my last 3 years - served as the Officer In Charge of the Ground Ammo School (MOS School) in Huntsville, AL. I started here as a slick-sleeved Private back in 1983; retired as the OIC in 2003 - full circle in only 20 years LOL!

Good job.
That's why I disagree so strongly with the "just drive it, damn the torpedos, I have 100 rock chips and I don't care" guys.
With a little research and effort, you can drive it AND keep it looking almost brand new, instead of looking like a POS...
