Interesting! I would think that 3200 lb. Z06 would turn way better than that 3850 lb. GT. Makes me wonder about driver ability. Since both are equal in horsepower it was obvious that the Z was pulling the GT on the straights and that's all about the weight difference. Interesting!

Remember, this is a C5 Z so it's 100 horsepower less than the GT. The C5 Z is a seriously potent car!
I'm sure these will be cropping up left and right - I've seen a video of a Honda passing a Z06 during a track day as well. Bottom line, if you put my dad in my Z06, I could run him down with any 1970 get-out-and-push you choose. If you put me in my Z06 at a track I've raced on, you'll need a professional driver in an equally fast car to even see me after a lap. These vids do not tell us anything.

C5 Z06 - Broke it in, Modded it, enjoyed it, unloaded it at 103k miles.
C6 Z06 - Let the games continue...

...except the GT500 had nearly 100 more horsepower, and possibly more due to the "custom tune and exhaust mod". There is no way the GT500 should be able to out-corner the Z. Driver ability, tire selection, and probably a few other things are at work here. Still, pretty respectable to see a GT500 scooting around a road course like that.

They do on the straights and that GT500 was not catching up but was getting left behind.

Woah, woah wait a minute I thought this was a C6Z. That GT would get tromped on by a new Z06. I still think it's incredible that Ford put 500 HP into a car based on the Jaguar chassis. I just couldn't believe they would develop a car on this level that weighed so much. This is no longer interesting. I think it's taken on the level of embarrassing
Embarassing. The GT 500 is a pig, on or off the track.
I agree meadow, a BIG embarrassment for FOMOCO, good ideas, bad followthru, I would be PISSED if I was smashing the loud pedal in a 125k car and a 2-4yr old streetable Z was telling me byeby for even more than 1 straight-away.
Ahh, cant wait to see how many issues Dodge and Ford in another couple of years with the next vette offereing.

The Shellby GT 500 MSRP's around 43K depending on options of course. Your probably thinking of the Ford GT which has a much higher MSRP, somewhere around 150K.
