Car and Driver got 12.7 out of the 01.

I raced an STI 3 times at the track and he beat me all 3 times.
Now let me explain....
I went there (bone stock) to finish off a set of F1's that were down to the wear bars. I did long smokey burnouts from the waterbox, just because I can, and it's one hell of a lot of fun. All 3 races the STI got me by at least a car length or better off the line, and I spent the rest of the time reeling him in. My nose was even with his rear bumper when we went through the traps, the STI running approx. 12.3 to my 12.6. (wished I had brought my drag radials, dangit)
After the 3rd run I parked next to him in the pitts and as I approached the car I saw him and his mechanic inside with the laptop tweeking the computer. I said "hey man, your STI's pretty quick. Have you done anything to it?" "Yep" he said. "Just about everything you can do to one." "Everything?" I said? "Yep" he said. "Pretty much everything."

So i was googling for blown c6 quarter mile times and I came across this tread.
As a previous owner of 2 trans am (98 a4 and 99 6spd) and a current owner of 2010 Subaru Legacy GT I think i can add a thing or two here.
One of the posters who stated that you need to abuse awd cars to get good results at the strip is somewhat correct. 2nd gear is decent from a roll if we hold rpms around 2k as turbo spools north of 2k but we will get walked by v8's.
My stock legacy ran 14.14 ish with 4k rpm lauch.
With stage 1 from cobb and borla catback I ran 13.547 @ 102.06 with a 1.775 60 ft
Stage 2 and a downpipe can run 12.7 according 1 of the members who posted vids from his track runs. Now thats about it for a Legacy as 5th gens dont have parts compatibility with other models.
Wrx and sti use different parts from legacy gt and you can they run stock what i run on my stage 1 + exhaust.
There is a lot more you can do to wrx / sti if you are willing to swap turbo headers etc.
If not all of the school loans I need to deal with I'd be rolling around in a camaro / vette and had a beater or a winter car but AWD + Winter tires in Chicago = WIN. I miss the v8's rumble. For not I have dual fart cannos lol as legacy doesn have the wrx rumble due to equal lenght headers.
RWD in Chicago winters .... thx but no thx ... Already did that with a Trans Am
Anyway just my 0.02
