[Z06] How much does it cost to replace the tires on a Z06?

How much does it cost to replace the tires on a Z06?
What choices are there for a Z06? I really don't feel like spending big money to replace the tires every time they wear out. It will be killing me enough just making the payment. Are there any $600-800 set of tires that will fit?

To replace the rear tire with a like tire, was $420 for me. Maybe you need to rethink purchasing the Z06. Putting cheap tires on an expensive car doesn't compute. :cry

I make under $60k now. I still want the car because I'm getting it below invoice (unless they sell it from under me.)

Look at http://www.tirerack.com You'll find OEM tires around 300 each for rear, and a little less for front (I don't remeber exact number). I've seen some tires closer to 200 each in those sizes. Follow the tire select section of their web site, where you put in a tire size - you'll get lot's of options.

z28,
$800 won't even put a set of tires on the rear of a Z06. If you hot dog it, you will burn them down in nothing flat. I couldn't shoe all four corners of my Trans Am for $800. If this is a concern, you may be in over your financial head. The Corvette is an expensive car to own, to maintain and to insure. Like they say about a yacht, if you have to ask, you can't afford it. jerboa

Whew! There's hope with Tirerack.com then. I forgot all about them. I didn't know the exact sizes for the Z06 since I don't have the car yet.
If the dealer sells the car from under me before I get there, then I'll have to just buy a regular C5. The regular C5 isn't much cheaper, so I could hardly seen NOT buying a Z06 unless the C5 was like $5,000 to $10,000 less.
I've never even drivin a Z06 yet. I'm just buying it without even test driving or looking at it. I mailed my deposit to the dealer and I'm waiting for some funds that I cash in. I should be getting a check in a few days. Then I'll deposit it and go to the dealer to get the car.

I got 30,000 miles out of my GS-C's on my '97 Z28 and still had a little tread left, except for the outside of the front from hitting the corners so hard after I got new sway bars.
It was $600 to replace all 4 tires at Firestone for my '94 Z28.
I never do burn-outs or anything to abuse the car. I just like it because the power is there when I need it and for the fun factor since it pins you in the seat when you nail it and hardly any cars you can buy out there do it without a HUGE price tag.
Full coverage insurance on the Z06 and my '97 Honda Civic will cost me $136 per month. $700 and change every 6 months with GEICO. 33 and married. Once you're married, the rates drop like mad. I don't drive crazy and have no tickets or accidents. I've been with GEICO for over 5 years.
It's really a shame that a $50,000 Z06 doesn't run like 11.80's or even 12.10's from the factory. That's real sad when you see some old piece of crap muscle car that looks like hell and costs about 1/6th or less what a Z06 costs and he blows you away - BADLY.
Yeah, it's a nice car. But if a dealer is going to charge a person $50 grand for a car, it should at least dust almost EVERYBODY, even the shade tree mechanic who bolts on some $3,000 super charger or crap like that.

I came real close to buying another new Z28. After test driving that Z28 and then sitting in a Corvette minutes after... I had to go with the Vette, even though I'm going to be pennyless. My wife says, "If you go out and buy that Vette, you're going to come back and find an echo in the house."
She's really pissed off about me wanting to get this car. I've wanted one ever since I was in greade school!
I'm tired of EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-EATING-SLEEPING-WORKING-
It's time for some FUN! I WANT A KICK foot RIDE and a Z06 is right up there!

Re: How much does it cost to replace the tires on a Z06? (z28com)
Sorry z28com, but I give you six months. Either you will sell the car because you can't afford it, or your wife will get it as part of the settlement.
I own two cars, one paid off ('97 Firebird) and an old BMW that's on a 2 year, $200/month loan. I would love a Z06, but I know when I can afford something and when I can't. If you are so strapped you would consider putting cheap tires on a world class car like the Z06, you definitely can't afford it.
Good luck.

There are people out there running very low 12s in nearly stock Z06s. And I'd like to see which "piece of crap muscle car" for 1/6 the price will blow away a Z06. There may be a few but they're rare and far from stock. It doesn't sound to me like you're a good candidate for a Corvette.

Keep in mind that those cars you are talking about in the quote above are not cars that can be driven daily. Superchargers and other mods required to get an old "muscle car" into the 11's come at the expense of reliability. The Z06 is the perfect combination of a car that goes like stink that can be driven reliably every day.
By the way, you also said you might buy a Coupe. I hope you know that the runflat tires for the coupe and vert cost MUCH MORE to replace.
Maybe you should wait a few years until the price on the used ones comes down. I want an SL55 AMG but I know my limits.

Did you have an encounter on the streets with one of those Chevelle SSs or Chrysler Road Runners recently that are lurking around the streets of Addison??

Re: How much does it cost to replace the tires on a Z06? (Phil C5)
There's lot of imports that run 10's and 11's on the road. Not saying that they are reliable after doing all of those mods. There's even a lot of 11 second Z28's out there. There was one Z28 that ran 11.94 with no super charger or NOS. Just heads, cam, exhaust and ALL suspension mods.
I could get a brand new 2001 Z28 for $21,900. That would cost me under $300/mo. with my down payment. But then I'd be wanting to get rid of it the whole time I owned it to get a Z06.
The Z06 will cost $46,000 out the door with luxury taxes, sales tax, doc fees and all... minus my $13,500 down payment, financed over 60 months at 10.75%... (IF) I get it.

Re: How much does it cost to replace the tires on a Z06? (jt93)
I use Michelin Pilot Sports they sell for about 1550-1625 a set. They are a great wet/dry combo and if the car is aligned to stock and Pressure is kept to 32psi all around there probably good for 35-40,000 miles,Im guessing I get 18-22000 but I drive hard with radical aligment.
You can save 400-600 per set on a softer compound that handles even better but be prepared to toss em @ 7-9000 miles but inreadible handing, other Forum members will know the brands.
It works out to about the same price per mile Im just a Pilot freak bought some today for My Subaru WRX With some OZ racing wheels should be awesme with AWD.Anyway Good Luck Dave

You should be looking for a 6.5% loan. Over  10% is way high. Try a credit union or online financing.

Re: How much does it cost to replace the tires on a Z06? (DZ06)
I can't. I have some credit problems. I just spoke with a friend of mine who had a '98 C5. He said I might as well not even get one. He said they cost a fortune to maintain and that most of the people who own them have much more disposable income that I do. He said that the tires are a fortune to fix. I was considering a used '99 Vette with 11,000 miles on it. He said, "Wait until you see how much it costs to replace those Run-Flats... and then wait until you see what a pain it is to find somebody who has the equipment to change the tires on those huge rims. And being that it's a '99, wait until you see how much it costs to fix the elctronics once the warranty breaks."
This is pushing me farther and farther into getting a Z28... UGH!!! I wish the Vette was more affordable! Now I see why most people who buy them have huge incomes! I'm scared to death to buy this used Vette since I don't know who owned it before. I ran a Carfax on it and it said "FLEET"... whatever that is. Carfax also said that if it was owned by some fleet for a business, if there was any damage or the car was involved in an accident and repaired, it wouldn't necessarily be reported to them.

I had to get a rear tire for my Z from tirerack.com. It was $312 delivered. There's no road hazard warranty available from tirerack.com. :cry
