How fast can you take a 90 degree corner?
Assuming bone stock 2001 Z06, about how fast do you think you could take a 90 degree corner without losing it?

Are you serious?
Depends on lots of factors. Is this a typical 2 lane road? Can I use the opposite lane? What's the surface, is it clean and dry? One thing for sure, I'll be able to make this corner faster driving your car than in mine.

Is this corner banked, on a road course with a racing line, or on a public road? How wide is the road and can I use it all? Too many variables to answer.

If you know what you're doing you could probably work up to something like 40-45 MPH. I'd prefer a left turn and would want to make incremental passes starting at 25 or so to get the lines right.

On dry, flat, public roads I can take a 90 degree corner at 30 MPH with no squeal or slippage, and 35-37 MPH with active handling coming on briefly. If you hold a little throttle in you can usually get an extra 1 to 2 MPH.
Weird but I had a 2000 FRC before I had my Z and I could get about the same speeds with the same results from the 2000 FRC with runcraps. We are of course talking about a 90 degree corner at 30 MPH.

Did just that - recently near work at about 35mph. No problems to report except my friend was at first surprised  and then thought it was really "tight". :yesnod:
If I ever get to the driving school I want to go through, then I'm sure that I could do better at that point.

I got this sharp 90 deg right corner (end of the block, 1 way street) and I love to take it fast :D
I can usually take it at ~30-35MPH w/o much drama. Fastest I’ve taken it was ~37MPH, but I was really pushing it and AH engaged. All this on run crap tires. I’m putting wider G-Force KDs soon and will let you know the improvement on the same exact corner.

Update: Hit it at around 30, no problem. Well except for the wife screaming at me for about 10 minutes

Well ok an update for you all who DO care,
Tryed a 90 degree turn at 40 MPH this morning with the following results....
Tire screeching, active handling engaged, and car didn't keep intended path. Car was very much controllable (which I think was the original question) put with moderate understeer (very light throttle in @ 3,000 RPM's). Now if you did this with a little more throttle it would have been oversteered.

Re: How fast can you take a 90 degree corner? (QWK SLVR)
So it looks like the general conclusion is that it seems you can take a 90 degree corner at about 30 - 32 MPH without attracting attention and without any adverse effects.
After those speeds you will get one or a combo of the following... screeching tires, active handling engaging, and under/over steer depending on throttle and RPM.
I still find it weird that I got the same results with my 2000 FRC w/ runflats. I guess the additional negative camber, F1SC tires, and stiffer suspension on the Z06 starts to make a difference in faster turns that are not 90 degrees.
Still would love to hear more comments and stories.

Re: How fast can you take a 90 degree corner? (TRZ06)
Maybe its me, but I've got a 90 degree corner that is rated for 25. I've taken it at about 52-53 and only slightly straightened out the corner by drifting out at the entrance.
