Buy a Ferrari V-12, not the V8 and drop it in and you will have the sound you want. So why did you buy a Z06?

A z06 will never sound the same as a ferrari. Completely different designs. What kind of dumb questions is this?!?!?

Set the rev limiter to 9,000, and put the cam on top of the motor!

Sound like a Ferrari??? I think you better listen to the new 2005 F1 Ferrari sound first?

Let the page load completly.

http://www.nasaracing.net/funstuff/sanitytest.htm

Then tell us if you want the new Ferrari sound?

Like AU N EGL posted, You will have to sit in your Z06 with the engine OFF and punch yourself right in the jewels. Then say "bing bing bing binggg bahhh bahhh baba baba bading ding ding.." Etc, repeat.

It really distresses me to hear that a fellow enthusiast does not have the sound that he really wants, so at great sacrifice, I'll trade you my Z for the Enzo.

Eh... my import buddies classify my car as the most exotic V8 they've hard and almost Ferrarish. Partly b/c vettes do sound different than Camaros/Trans Ams.. but it's mostly due to the Kooks Headers. They have equal length primaries and produce a very mean, slighly more exotic sound. Rt-click and save-as the link in my sig. That's a stock 2001 Z h/c running through Kooks 1 3/4ths w/ cats and Stingers.

I need to look up the V8 specs, but the Ferrari V12 is a 60 degree engine. This means that there is a 60 degree angle between the banks of 6 cylinders. All US-made V8 engines, as do almost all V8s, have a 90 degree angle between the cylinder banks. So no matter what you do, you can never make a 90 degree V8 sound like a 60 degree V8. By the way, a 90 degree angle is best for engine balance and vibration. I think Ferrari uses 60 degrees to make the engine narrower and thus more compact. It is already very wide due to the dual overhead cams.

Brian your car sounds great! I hope mine sounds as good after friday when the LGM LTs go in Cats? I don't need no stinkin cats

Um initial post: well IMO a Z sunds great stock, but it will rumble more with cat backs. Drive it and it will grow on you, and then hear some one with stingers and the mod bug will bite!!!

Not to hijack the thread...but it's interesting to read this since the same thing is done with motorcycles with V-twin engines. For instance, my Honda RC-51, along with the comparable Ducati's have 90 degree V-twins, while the Aprillia Mille engines are 60 degree twins. I can definantly hear a difference in the two. I much prefered the sound of my RC.

I think this is the funniest thread I have ever seen in the C5 Z06 forum.

Thank you for making my day.

The closes you will get to sounding like a Ferrari is going with no cats and a corsa indy exhaust.

Listen to exhaust sound bite #3 and see if that is the sound you want: http://www.corsaperformance.com/flashc5-titanium.htm

I have Kooks headers and straight pipes after the mid pipes (w/3" X-pipe and high-flow cats). IMHO it sounds more "Ferrari like" at high rpms than any other exhaust setup on a Corvette.

OK
I'll be the one serious reply to this thread. (Flame suit on). Isn't there and expensive aftermarket cat-back system that claims to make the Vette sound more like a Ferrari?????
I can't remeber its name, but I think that was its claim to fame. Anyone know what I'm talking about??? (I know that left me completly open).
