Default If You Need A Sliding Dual Purpose Seat - Sparco, OMP, Cobra, Etc.

This is to provide some pictures for setting up a seat where the stock seat belts are still required and sliders are preferred. I recently ordered an EVO II QRT seat and used it as an example. This is likely going to replace the EVO II US (formerly the EVO II Plus) and has the raised headrest holes. To get the seat to sit as low as we could with sliders we did the following:

Our brackets offer multiple slider mounting positions to accommodate different needs (the handle can be re-bent easily to adapt to the varying widths). We used the second row from the inside for slider mounting for the EVO II QRT.

With our sliders in that position the assembled bracket looked like this:

We offer custom fasteners to attach the side mounts to the sliders - two M8 button head caps screws welded to a plate the inserts into the slider and sticks up thru the side mounts. This way you do not need to get inside the slider to hold a nut while attaching side mounts.

We were able to use them on the front of the sliders but could not on the rear for this application. The height of the nuts would have hit the seat and prevented us from getting to the lowest hole possible in the side mount that could be used. We used button head caps screws from the top with nuts on the inside. You can leave the most rearward bolts off until after test fitting so you can get to the nut for the bolt in front of it to tighten them down; then install the rearward bolts.

With the button head caps screws in the rear we could use the forth hole down in the front row in our side mount for installation.

The seat just cleared the bolt heads and sat within 1/8" of the side mount.

We have universal seat belt adapters like shown above and one made specifically for the C6 receiver like below. These sandwich in between the slider and side mount and move with the seat to keep their position.

You should gain headroom over stock in this position but I do not know exactly how much. I estimate 1"; more if the cushion is removed. Our ST3 seat will sit the lowest because it can drop between the sliders if they are installed on the outermost row of mounting holes, but it is not FIA rated if that matters. The picture below is an old picture and the ST3 now has ribs in the back but you get the idea.

We also now have a limited supply of our ultra low bracket with built in lap belt tabs. We plan to continue offering these but only have 11 right now in stock. These would allow a fixed location for lap belts and the adjustable location for oem seat belts. Email me if you are interested in a setup that has this version of the ultra low bracket.

A couple of things to keep in mind - the side mounts shown in the assembled picture above is wider than other side mounts, This allows them to be spread farther apart when needed. The EVO II QRT, like many other EVO seats was 1 7/8" wider across the front of the base than the rear. You likely could not have used other side mounts and installed this as shown.

Also, The original seat belt retractor cover in a C5 would likely interfere with attaching lap belts on our bracket with built in tabs. In that case we would recommend the combination unit below if lap belt mounts are needed. Using other rear mounted lap belt mounts can interfere with the seat sliding once you reach them but ours sits against the rear wall to allow the most travel.

Hopefully this helps.
