I'm curious to know how much the stock front rotors weigh. I know that the rears weigh 13.75 lbs. If anyone has this info, please post it up so we can update it. Lefteye has the Napa rotor weight posted but I'm not sure if this is the same as the stock ones.

FYI these are the weights of the Baer Eradispeed rotors posted by Evil-twin:

Front:
14.0 lbs - 2pc
22.5 lbs - 1pc (solid cast)

Rear:
15.0 lbs - 2pc (new version) 14 inches
14.0 lbs - 1pc (solid cast with thicker fire path)

So, if anyone whose currently working on their brakes or have their front stock rotors around, could you post up their weight? Thanks!

Thanks Alex!!! I should've kept checking that thread, but Evil-Twin thought they weighed more than regular rotors, and it seems he's wrong. I have some caliper work to do soon, so I'll be able to weigh some used rotors. They've been used, so it won't be full weight. I've heard some people have bought Napa rotors and GM rotors, and they had the same part numbers in it, so it seems like they are the same parts. I'll weigh it anyway, if only to know how much they wear out. The calipers are lighter than I thought, so it may not be worth going to aftermarket calipers. I'll post that info in the next update. If aftermarket calipers aren't lighter, I'm going to get some OEM calipers coated ($100 a pair) and be done with brake upgrades....well, I do have an experiment I want to try... Check post #6 to see what else is coming.

Steve, thanks for the help! Weights for the Z06 springs would be great! I still need to weigh my Z51 and VBP springs. I've heard a couple times that the VBP springs are lighter, but VBP denies that their springs are lighter than stock. I'll know if the rumors are true or not very soon.

Can we have a list of all the differences between '97-'04 C5s? I've always wanted to know, plus different recalls etc for each year, etc. and what each years weaknesses were.

Get notified of new replies

AllTaken, I'd be happy to put recall (TSB) information here, but the rest of the information isn't really inline with my intent of this thread, so if anything, I'll post a few links to good pages and threads. The weaknesses of each year is a little harder for me to do since they made a lot of production line changes, and it'd take quite a database for me to do justice with the topic. By reading thru the thread, and the links, you can get a feel for which years have problems, but it's still too much for me to comprehend without making a database.

My next update should be in around 1 1/2 months. Keep in mind that the updates will match my intent for this thread is to have a resource that helps fully utilize the Corvette, especially in regards to maintenance, with the ultimate goal of only having to research this thread to build a strong & light race car.
