Default Thought... Will a CTS-V, GTO or upcoming C6 shifter work on a C5

I was just thinking... the CTS-V and upcoming C6 shifter is shorter and said smoother than the C5, right?

Just wondering then if those OEM shifters will work/retrofit on the C5.

If not the CTS-V then maybe the C6? The trannies should be similar.

Is it the shifter that is improved or internals in the tranny?

I actually have no issues with the stock shifter, but if the newer shifter can be retrofitted and is better than any current aftermarket shifter then that would be interesting.

I have no idea, but I would rather doubt it. That would make things entirely to easy for us.

The GTO and CTS-v are both standard drivelines with the trans bolted up to the engine, I know those shifters are different, as I compared the old shifter from my t56 Camaro to the new hurst I installed in the Corvette.
The C6 is also a rear mount tranny, so it's shifter might be the same base.

The C6 tranny is being modified to change the shift linkages to make the shifting better. The shifter itself is shorter and may or may not fit. The only way to get the C6 improvements is to go with the new tranny.
