Default Installed Vararam yesterday and have the same problem I have with all intakes

I can never get these two damn tabs that hold the air bridge in place to seat all the way down! :cuss Everything fits perfectly. Everything lined up perfectly, just like every other intake I've ever installed on my C5's. I had a twin flow on my '97, blackwing on my '02 Z06 and now the Vararam. And every time I get this... http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c4/nat96lt4//vram.jpg

Anyone else have this problem?

I wonder if it's a lack of flexibility (compared to the stock components) between the stuff before and after the MAF. Maybe you could loosen the straps on both sides of the MAF, and see if the air bridge will seat, then tighten.

I thought mine was the only one that wouldn't line up!! I have a carbon fiber bridge that we installed about two years ago and the tabs wouldn't line up. I was told it won't line up because it was pre-production bridge.

I have noticed that the newer aftermarket bridges don't have the tabs.

My Halltech Stinger-R airbridge has no tabs and none are needed.

I suggest that you follow Dan the C5 man's advice. Good luck!

Which filter do you have in the airbox? Make sure the filter is in the box properly and make sure the airbox cover is fully seated.

If you still cannot get it to line up ask Patrick for a filter with a thinner foam surround. He makes them in different sizes.

The vararam isn't going anywhere, since it bolted in at the bumper. Mine didn't line up either, so I just removed the grommets & their mounting tabs. Looks alot cleaner & I don't worry about it anymore. Scott

Try grabbing ahold of the plastic radiator cover right underneath the pins and pulling them up into the grommets. It worked great on my Vararam with the stock air bridge.

Nat,

My VaraRam installed with the same gap. Don't worry. Just enjoy the added power above 60 MPH.

I left everything a little loose and then worked my way from throttle body down to mass sensor then removed all that and snugged up vararam then reinstalled that section . No problems here, you just need to remold it a little. I ditched the tabs i thought it looked better without them.

Nat, Here is what I try to do. Make shure the harnes from the massair is not in the way of the tabs. lift up the lower box as you slip the cupler on(do not tighten) and as you lower the bridge on to the tabs watch that the lower conection stays together( if you have to, use the but end of a screwdriver to seat the tabs down) now tighten the lower coupler, and rock the upper hose to the throtle body. It is easer with two people, but can be done by one easly the 2nd time around. Hope this helps. Ric

Take the tabs and the rubber insulators out. They really don't do anything anyway.
