Possible good news on LS2 to LS1/LS6 Engine compatibility
I managed to get close enough to shoot some pics of the new Corvette at the Houston Auto show. You can go to the C6 section and look at my thread with all the pictures. As we know, CF creates a thumbnail of the photos, as the pictures themselves are very large (2560x1950). If you click on the thumbnail, you will be taken to the big pic (and I do mean BIG).

Anyhow, I managed to get up close to the Convertible and shoot a few engine compartment pics. Notice this pic of the motor. The head on the LS2 in that car is a 243 casting (LS6). This would indicate to me inititally that the new intake, and most importantly the LS2 block should be compatible with current LS1/LS6 cars...
Here is the pic.

Also, I shot some pics of the new intake. The bolt pattern is the same as the FAST 90MM. So, TB swapping between a FAST and a GM intake should be cool also.
Prepare to raid the parts bin...

hmm.. wonder if C5 headers will still work on a LS2 that is dropped into a C5.

I bet that top end swaps will be popular. The LS2 TB is 90mm already so that and the intake will be something very desireable. If the heads are indeed LS6's then that too.

I guess the next logical question is, wth is LS2?
A 6.0L LS6 with 90mm intake/tb?
Are there any significant differences (aside from displacement of course) between LS2 and LS6 or is it more like LS6 vs LS1 which is basically the same motor no matter what anybody says ;)

Its suppose to have a 4" bore so drop in a 4" crank and 402ci--4.125 crank and 415ci with no bore or sleave

J-Rod,
Thanks for the info.
The LS2 motors benefit greatly from the larger bore. In addition to the extra 18 cubic inches, the larger bore allows the LS2 to run bigger valves.
- What I am more concerned about is whether the C6 Z06 three-valve heads will fit our blocks?
- Will the C6 Z06 intake manifold fit our engines with the three-valve heads?
- When will we be able to buy LS2 blocks with the larger bores?
- Will the three-valve heads take our current headers?

The new intake maniofold and 90mm setup should be nice... might put FAST out of business if it's cheaper.
Does the LS2 have LS6 heads w smaller cam and 6.0 liters of displacement?

? Block mounting point the same LS1 vs LS2. Is the water pump transplantable? In other word do you have to replace 75% of the bolt ons or 15%? Those items can add up quickly. I think I might stall my 427 plans.

Re: Possible good news on LS2 to LS1/LS6 Engine compatibility (EuG)
I'm told its 364ci same stroke with a 4" bore- a 4" crank and a 402ci would be sweet enough and perfect for a TT setup--
nice pics J--it appears they are using a sleave that gets larger on one end to fit the larger TB did it appear to be the same size airbridge and MAF (85mm) used in the ls1 setups--I can't say I am impressed that cluster f accordian setup going to the TB hell that had to cost more than a simple smooth silicon sleave and can't be nearly as eff--

Stunna;
If it was Chuck I would believe it  I guess my plans are on hold until this is verified. Hope it happens :hurray:
