224/224 CAM IDLE-(900 RPM??)
just got my cam installed and tuned today. idle is a little high @900 rpm. is this normal for a cam car to be idling that high?

I'm interested in this topic too. I may have the same cam as you. I have only had it tuned once and I'm waiting to get my headers installed before I get it on the dyno and tune it again. I know my tuner had to bump up the idle a bit to keep it from dying and it idles right at 900 rpm. When slowing in traffic, it will cruise along at 25 to 30 mph without any throttle, and always wants to creep hard from the line. These aren't huge isssues for me but I think the car can be refined a bit. I've heard it often takes a few tuning sessions to get it just right. The whole power band is impressive so far with this cam and headers should really bring up the top end.

FN FAST- i agree its really not an issue, but i think it can be refined. cruises without throttle preasure and creeps off the line. if i was to drop the idle about 800 would it want to stall out? are you guys noticing a louder valvetrain? whats your guys overall take on this cam?

Re: 224/224 CAM IDLE-(900 RPM??) (1fastmfc5)
I've only had the cam in for about 200 miles. Like it. I really notice a lot more torque throughout the whole power band, but it really keeps pulling hard all the way past 6000 rpm. If I go WOT the 1 - 2 shift can get a bit squirly. Can't wait for headers. They should really compliment this cam. I did a lot of research and this is a very popular mid-sized cam, as long as you're NA :yesnod:

the +2 or +4 is the ground in advance. The cams are basicly going to perform the same, and both are excellent companies to purchase from, i have bought from both, but i do buy more stuff from Texas Speed, just becauese they are easier to get a hold of.
On another note, mine idles at 800 with a 224/230 112, but it will also make a difference if it is auto or 6spd

The idle has nothing to do with the cam, it has everything to do with the tuning. Who tuned it? They obviously set it to 900. Have them set it to something else if you don't like it.
Having said that, my smaller 221/221 on a 112 idles at 750 and it has no problems. Try 800 with yours, should be fine.
Dope

My 224/224 on a 112 idles at 950. I've thought about having the idle dropped a little, but haven't got around to it.
