Default Best Line Lock for an A4 Is it worth it?

What are the advantages of having one over the brake burnout procedure?

What does the kit cost?

Install cost?

Which one to get?

Where to mount the button?

Ok that is enough.

Thanks in advance :yesnod:

Got the kit from Cartek ($260), the TCI roll stop. You can get one from the Summit catalog a lot cheaper, but you will need the proper brake lines. Did the installation myself, very simple. Some mount the button in the ash tray compartment, but I put mine under the dash (see picture)!

Gary, I have the line lock made by Hurst costs a little over $100.00 if memory serves. It works great, makes heating up your tires MUCH easier, I also think it is easier on your tranny with a line lock. I have the switch mounted on my emergency brake handle. I had a lot of work done at the same time when I installed the line lock. I don't know what installation costs by it self, it should not be that expensive to install if you don't do it yourself.

Thanks Al and Mitch. So now it locks the front tires without having to overpower your rear brakes which is easier on the car and easier to control when doing a burnout.

Any more Pics of the Button?????????

How EXACTLY does it work:
Do you push and hold the button with one hand and that locks the front tires, then do a burnout while holding down the button, when your done, then let off the button and it releses the front wheels? Explain Exactly what you do?

I looked it Up and there appears to be 2 parts to the kit:

1) Standard Kit from Summit $89.99 below:
http://store.summitracing.com/produc...earchtype=ecat

2) The installation Kit for $27.99 that has all the brake lines and everything you need to install the kit, url below:
http://store.summitracing.com/produc...earchtype=ecat

Here is the Hurst One for $129 and their install kit is $24.99:
http://www.racenet.net/drivetrn/hurst-roll-control.php

They look about the same but the Summitt one is cheaper.

After you roll through the water apply your foot brake and then you apply your line lock. You then release your foot brake while keeping the line lock buttom depressed, your front brakes are now locked and your rear brakes are not locked. You can now heat up your tires without having to over power the brakes.

I have the Hurst ROLL CONTROL. I purchased it from Jegs. com.. about $110 :yesnod: You will need to have some extra brake line from GM to configure the setup. I think a professional installation is in order IMO.

I wouldn't be without it :nono: You've seen my videos  I have the momentary button onstalled on the console just next to the handbrake at a thumbs reach. It's illuminated and works just fine!

Great thread
Ijust ordered mine and can't wait to come out smokin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went with the hurst and bought their optional release button which i will mount on the front part of my shifter
this option makes it easier to do a great burnout and not have to worry about braking or other distractions
Happy Burnouts/ and 60' times

You may want to pony up for the Hurst unit as it is re-buildable.... I don't know about the other units out there. I had the Hurst on my 5.0 and it was diehard reliable, I mounted the switch that came with the kit on my tilt-wheel lever (mustang).

I later purchased the Hurst shift **** with the power button right on top. The mustang was a 5sp, but...... You could buy an adapter kit to mount the same style **** on your A4.

Let us know how you make out, don't forget the pix!!! :steering:
