Default Not safe to drive the vette when it is cold and damp.

I let the wife drive the New MB C32 AMG so I drove the vette. Trying to pass a slower car on the tollway I got side wides by just tapping the throttle at 65. Scared the hell out of me. Cant wait for the heads should be next week (more scary)

Too bad GM did not buy MB, the 5 speed in the C32 is awesome, holds the gear and downshifts when braking. Hopefully in the C6 GM will make a tranny like the Mercedes.

Buy a real tranny you panzy. 6 speeds all the way :p:

I am still trying to figure out whether to go to work or take a nap. My car is nice and clean right now.

It's all about the tires :steering:...with the right rubber on the car along with traction control, active handling and ABS the C5 should be as good (or better?) as any RWD car available in the (non frozen) wet IMO.

Summer tires don't like cold weather. They get greasy about 35F or so. It's not just tread pattern that makes tires all season or winter. I drive mine year round. Coldest this year was -15F. You learn quickly how much throttle yo can use especially in a turn.

C6 still has 4L65E but has shift alogrithm to hold lower gears when driving the twisties whether on or off throttle. MB have that?

5 and 6 speed GM autos are near, but mostly for trucks because they can get a 4:1 first and maybe a .6 or .7 OD for a 6 or 7 to 1 spread with even spacing. I hear they are all "clutch-on-clutch" which is great for shifting and power flow. Think THM400 shifting for you old guys.

Geeze, if GM bought MB they'd have to take DC with it!

Stock tranny is poorly calibrated. You can set your shift speeds with Diablo or LS1-Edit. My 4L60 shifts on command.

DC beat you to it. One of the magazines has already reported that this is coming. I think it's more like 330bhp.

Scott...easy to get sideways on cold/wet road by applying a few hp...but for real-man fun try putting some DR on, don't even need to apply throttle to go sideways on wet road.

With good all season tires and the active handling I have been shocked at how WELL the vette handles on wet roads, even with my cam!

My GMC van downshifts when I brake or slow down, I think that is actually more dangerous.

You are suddenly slowing down the rear wheels which could send you into a spin on a slick road. The van has gone a little squirly on me a couple times because of it. It is changing your brake bias to the rear brakes.

Actually, the best shifting auto (at least a couple of years ago) was in the BMW 530i. Shockingly, that 5-speed transmission was supplied to BMW by.....GM! Needless-to-say, MB has nothing over GM when it comes to auto trannies!

I am not talking any smack until the heads are on and the car is tuned. It should be bad butt but until I am for sure, I am guessing it will be slower. Trying to keep my expectations low!
