Help with clutch slave cylinder
We changed my son's clutch and flywheel this week to Aluminum flywheel and SPEC stage II clutch. We have a low pedal and have bled the slave cylinder with no improvement. We have seen all the posts about changing the slave cylinder on 01's and earlier, but this is an 03 with the up graded cylinder. We are not having any leakage, as the pedal has remained constant and not getting worse. We bled it 6-8 times opening the bleeder each time and tightening it back before releasing the pedal. Who else has had this problem and how did you fix it? Did we not bleed it enough times or what. The car onle has 12,000 miles, so the slave shouldn't be bad yet. Help!!! Hershey :chevy

Re: Help with clutch slave cylinder (Hershey)
are you making sure the reservoir is staying full as you beed it?it's a small res and will get low enough after 3 bleeds to start to suck air.make sure the clutch line is snapped in fully.chances of the slave/master going go bad are possible, but slim.if everything looks good[release bearing, clutch plate tight, etc.you will probably need a adjustable master cylinder to compensate for the spec clutch.

Re: Help with clutch slave cylinder (Hershey)
Chances are there is nothing wrong with your slave or master cylinders but the Spec clutch may require an adjustable master cylinder to properly position the clutch peddle. This is nothing more than a threaded adjustment of the master cylinder push shaft. If you are a bit creative you can modify your stock master cylinder shaft to make the length adjustable and you can then position the peddle where ever you want it...

Hey i just did a clutch install last weeken and gravity bleed the clutch for about 20 mins, and then had my father depress the pedal and then we bled it that way 7 times. Worked great and got my pedal pressure back.
