Best grease to use on the sway bar bushings?
What works the best - I got a queaky front end and I am going to grease up the sway bar bushings - also going to grease up the rubber seal for the hood as that squeaks a touch.

When I installed my Z06 sway bars, I greased it all up with white lithium grease. So far, so good...although I have noticed my freakin' headlights squeak when they raise and lower :nonod: ...need to grease 'em up, I guess... :yesnod:

Silicone grease is best for rubber.
That's what I used when I installed my new sway bars. :yesnod:

There is a VERY heavy silicone grease for this purpose. Also, down the road you may wish to pitch the rubber alltogether and go with urethane, some of which is graphite impregnated to negate squeaks. The non-graphite can be made "geaseable" with zerks added, etc. I did this shortly before the graphites became available. Natch!

Definitely use a silicone or synthetic grease. Lithium is a little too thin for bushings and will break down and liquify with heat.

I use a product from CRC called DryGlide. It is not a grease but a spray on Teflon coating. You have to remove the bushings, clean them, spray on the coating wait to dry (I did two coats) then re-assemble.

Do I need to lube if I'm going back in with new 04 Z06 bushings? They have some felt looking lining on the inside already.

Awesome thanks all! I will also look into changing the bushings - though I may also look into changing the sway bars - I have the Z51 package and my car is a 99 I hear they upgraded the bars in 2001.

Formula 1 Pre-Lube is the best stuff out there. I've never had to regrease bushings after using this stuff.

Old noisy swaybar bushings........I tried 5 different lubes, and the only one that lasted more than 1 month is a thick silicone lube I got at Pep Boys for $5
New uninstalled swaybar bushings...... clean the swaybar really well and install the new bushings dry. If you get the pop/creak sound, then you will have to lube them. The polyester lining is there to eliminate the noise, but when it gets dirty it makes a popping noise.
Squeaky Headlights..... there are 3 pivot points that you can squirt with spray lithium grease. Manually raise the headlights just enough to get your fingers in the front. Jiggle up and down while spraying. You will hear the squeak go away when you find the noisy location.
