Default Is My Oil Pressure Going Nuts ? (Or is it Vette parania?)

I have a 99 C5 with 52,000 miles... At iddle the oil preassure shows around 25, however when I get on it (no more than 5000rmps) it can hit up to 54!!! When I am cruising it in high gears nice and easy its right on the middle no problems there...

Is this suppose to fluctuate like that??????

Or am i paranoid??

 Moreover, I recently flushed the engine and replenished it with Mobil 1...I don't like the color of mobil 1 though or the company much...
Can I use my favorite Amsoil instead without any problems (warranty is expired)....?????

PLEASE respond I am having my first Corvette fever!!!!!!!!!! :chevy

My oil gauge fluctuates as well, so i don't think you have a problem there.

I am not sure on the Amsoil, you might want to do a search to see if anyone else has the same concerns.

Welcome to the Forum.

Mobile 1 5W-30 oil is specified. Heavier weight oil, like 15W-50, can cause engine damage. The heavier oil does not lubricate as well because of engine tolerances, reduced fuel economy, increased operating temperatures, etc.

Oil Pressure MINIMUM Hot:

6 psig at 1000 rpm
16 psig at 2000 rpm
24 psig at 4000 rpm.

(Mine is around 42 psig driving down the road at 1700 rpm)

Your oil pressure will fluctuate due to viscosity changes and engine rpm...
