I seen GM accessory plugs with a lighted circular surround...as a lead one could change out the OEM one.
Would still need an off/on switch.

Not sure what you're talking about. Can you be more specific?
I think he's talking about a light inside the center console. Like on the C4's, you open the lid and it lights up so you can see inside there.

Re: Anyone install a center console light? (Shylor)
I just got an idea, how about an LED light that plugs into the A/C plug inside the console. It could have a momentary switch on its top that makes contact with the console lid. Off when the lid is closed, so the light could stay plugged in. It would be very small with a light deflector pointing light into the console.
Hmmm, I just may have something here.

I removed the lighter socket and replaced it with a white led and DPDT reed relay ( Magnecraft W172DIP5). The power comes from the lighter feed wires which are live all the time and pass through the reed relay then through a 1k resistor to the led; a magnet is glued to the console lid so it turns the relay off when closed. The relay coil is not used. A small coax Lemo connector clamps two small circuit boards together on either side of the original lighter hole and provides accessory power.

Well lets see some pics of the installed item!
Yeah, that´s how I started. I took like eight photos, which all turned out bad.
When I went to the second try, my batteries were out, and I had no more at home.
Will get new, and post some pics then.
