Default ATTN CCW wheel owners: Need size advice for wheels and tires. All advice appreciated

I have the stock Z06 setup 17x9.5 with 265s and 18x10.5 with 295s. I want to get 18s all the way around, and don't want to tub the car. So what size wheels and tires should I get?

I called ccw and they said they don't make a 10.5 inch wheel. So do you all get 18x10's and 18x11's? What size wheels and tires will fit on my Z front and rear and will not hit the rear brake screen.

Also, does anyone make a 305 or 315 tire for an 18 inch rim?

I looked at the ccw's with kumho's and that seems like a great deal...

So how does 18x10 with 275/35/18s and 18/11 with 295/35/18s kumho ecsta mx's ??? I'd like a larger rear tire, but I don't want to tub and I don't want to spend a fortune on overpriced tires. Also, the Goodyear GS D3s look awesome, but don't come in Z06 sizes.

Go w/ John's recommendation, be aware however if you're running 275 35 18 up front it may rub on a hard turn. Mine did, many other will tell you otherwise. Good luck.

I have 18x10 275/35/18 Michelin Pilot on the front and 18x11.5 335/30/18 Michelin Pilot on the rear. No rubbing issues and they look :reddevil

:iagree: I have the same setup with very minimal rubbing in the rear only. You can not feel the rubbing at all and it doesn't upset the suspenion on hard turns. Only sign is a tiny amount of wear on the inner fender well. If I had to do it again I would still go with the same exact package from John, he is the man

I have 18x9.5 and 18x11 CCWs on my car, with the same offset as Z06 wheels.. I run 265-35-18s and 295-35-18s.. I know many like going with the extra half an inch width on the rear and 335 tires, but that extra half inch they stick out just does not look right to me. Tires/rims sticking out past the wheelwell is a big pet peeve of mine.

I know a few others that have told John they wanted the same setup as mine and they really loved the look of it compared to the 11.5s with 335s that stick out.

I know the extra tire width is tempting for traction, but to be honest I feel my 295 BFG KDs offer better traction than the 335 Pilot Sports. Tire width isn't everything involved in getting a tire to put power to the ground.

The tires sticking out just a little looks awesome to me. I think it looks better than a tubbed car with 345s inside the fenderwell, am I  no!

p.s.- get black centers ;)

I plan on getting black centers with black center caps both powdercoated. I want 11's with 295's on the back. For the fron should I get 10's with 275s or 9.5s with 275's?

Thanks

Yea, the Kid is right. Can't imagine who recommended him...

Anyway-they will rub in the rear. You can do a "baby tub" with a heat gun which reduces the minor rubbing immensely. It's on my website http://home.bellsouth.net/p/s/commun...pid=110844&ck= under the photo album section.

I'm fixin to put 11.5 X 18 on the rear with 335 MPSs using CCW. Then I'll add the 18 X 10 CCW on front ith 275s. I dont really want to tub the car to use 345s on the back but may change that later on?? With a blower the H.P. is enough to need the 345tires. :flag

There isnt much difference between the 9.5s with 265s and 10's with 275s, either way you go, you will be happy. The 9.5s sit more flush with the front wheelwells though and look better IMO.

How sure are you that the 335 or 345 Pilot Sports offer more traction on the street than the 295 KDs?? I have driven a few cars with Pilots Sports and they have always felt VERY greasy to me. A few friends of mine who have had both the KDs and the Pilot Sports, felt the same.

If you REALLY love the look of the wide tires and that is what makes you happy, then go for them, but dont assume they offer way more traction because they are wider.

My 295 KDs don't do too bad of a job putting my 490rwhp to the street in my opinion. I have even pulled 2.0s and 1.99 60foots at the track with them!

:iagree: Also I can't see 11.5s and 335s being that great for handling. 12s are the minimum I would 335, but many have run this setup without issues. I am running 295s on 9.5s now and did have 315s on 9.5s on the C4 so I have mounted an oversized tire for the rim before ;)

I will do 265/295 unless I go mini tubs with 335/18 Hoosiers or the new Toyo race tires. The big single turbo Supra guys around here like the 335 Toyos.

the 295 bfg (or the goodyear f1's for that matter)on an 11 will go around a road course better than the 335 pilot on 11.5, but for, dead stop, staight line traction the pilot will bite better, mainly because of the more pliable sidewall wich is what put them at a disadvantage on the road course.

I also have the same ccw setup and have had no probs what so ever--if you go with the 11" wide rear it will not stick out at all and the 11.5 the rest of us use with the 335's may give the appearance of sticking out a bit at diff angles but they really don't I have been hoping the KD's would come in a 315 or better as they are about the same width at 315 as a pilot at 335 and have excellent traction on dry streets.

Actually the Michelin Pilots are the smallest "335" in the buisiness-they are more like a "315-320" than a comprable 335. As a result, they fit flush with the 11.5 and do not cup. Also, a 12 inch requires tubbing where the 11.5 doesn't. The 11.5 would also be a great choice for another brand's 315.

I have the 11.5's 335 combo and love them, the car is an auto w/3.15s and will pitch you into the next lane on 1-2 shift even with the bigger tires, love the look, but the traction does not seem that much better, motor is stock.

Thanks for setting the traction issue straight John. If anyone should know, it would be you.
See my Sig. I love the combo and have no rubbing issues whatsoever. Also disagree with lucaslawfirm, although he doesn't say what the 335s traction isn't much better than.....they're not much better than what? I switched from runcraps which were scary. My 335s plant and go!! Love the look the most, though. Saw a few 'stangs running around with big meats on the rear, from the factory, think Cobras. Made me sick, so I had to stuff those rear fenders on my Vette and couldn't be happier. Should have see the expressions on the SMC'ers at the dyno day. "Man, those are wide," and "how big are those?" were just a few of the comments. Oh, and they ride like feather pillows, too. Regardless of which size you get, though, stick with the CCWs. They have got to be one of the strongest wheels for the weight, and I think they just might be one of the lightest wheels you can get. Lower "unsprung" weight = better ride and better handling.

Thanks for the replies... I'm going to ask John what wheel and tire size to do for the front. Would the sidewall of a 275 on a 10 inch rim be comparable to that of a 295 on the 11 inch? I don't want the profiles to be noticeably different. Also, I want enough sidewall as to not bang up the rims easily.

Do any of you folks with the 11.5 inch rear wheels with the Pilot Sport 335s have a picture from the rear of the car, so as maybe to see the extent, if any, that the tires "stick out." Thanks. :seeya
