Found Tach signal wire under drivers side of dash <BIG PICS>
I didn't want to pull the wheel and run a wire from outside for my shift light, so I did some research in the service manual and found a better closer place to connect.
Here are some pictures. Hope these help someone!!
Remove bottom of dash
IC plug that this harness feeds. You can see in the pic of the plug what all the other wires do
This is the harness that the wire is in
A look at all the wires in the harness
Here the wire is isolated from the rest
A close up of the White tach signal wire. there are 3 small 18g white wires, but I noticed that the one that we need is a little bit off white (like bone white?... they may not all be like that

You're much more persistant than me. I gave up and wired my shift light at the pcm.

I also wired mine from the pcm but last week I was helping out a guy out and he was sucessful in wiring it to a white wire on the passenger side, which saves a whole heck of a lot of time and energy. It's not that much fun to go clear to the pcm. In my case it was even harder because I didn't have one wire long enough and the plastic wire connectors broke two wires---and splicing the wires was tough because it's in a small space and the wires are so short that there's not much to splice.
So in the end, it looks like going to the passenger side, carefully cutting open the bundled wires, looking for the right white wire out of three, and going from there seems to be a good way to go. The above also seems like an alternative, though I'm not too sure about my ability to start pulling apart the dash. But good pictures. I may print them out and see if I can use them next time.

Excellent, Brian. You get the award for tapping in the closest of anyone. That is a perfect spot to tap in to and makes the most sense.
Great job!

 that is much easier than going into the wheel well and splicing or cutting into those tiny wires.

This should be put in tech tips.
Spent hours connecting my two Raptor S/Lights.
Most of the work was wiring to the PCM.
This will make installing shift lights very easy.
Good work!

"whats the test to make sure you have the correct wire?"
The other white wires are for Headlamps on input, Illuminated display signal and Skip shift indicator lamp output. Because none of these things were active while I was testing for it, I wasn't too worried about shorting the light out with voltage.

Let add 1 thing.
A lot of cars have the same color (White) for all three.
The easy way to test which on you need is by using a regular test light connected to ground. With the key in the run posistion. Probe each wire. You will find when you probe the tach wire it will pulse the tach when you probe it. If its one of the other white wire you will see dash indicator lights turn on..one being the skip shift, I forgot the other.
