This issue is a hot topic with me.....having the same motor. ;) Any idea how this intake will benefit our motor.....for everyday driving? i.e. above 5000 rpm only etc? Will this intake help at all in the mid range?
Is this intake only benefical for racers?

This is the plug everyone with h/c, fi, and big cubes has been waiting to uncork... it'll be great to see some dyno numbers. Looks like by ls6 intake isn't going to be top dog anymore. Hopefully it'll show some great gains. :yesnod:

Re: New Intake Manifold from F.A.S.T. (Cobra4B)
hmmm, I dunno. Their explaination on why they chose the design material strikes me as a little bit sketchy.
First of all, the original material used on the stocker (~plastic), is good enough for any application. Using this kind of plastic reduces temps and can withstand the heat from the motor. I don't see why they need to change this up unless through various tests, concluded that it disappates heat more efficiently.
Other than that, I guess it's cool. A great candidate for a 383 stroker and on up. :D

They always compare manifolds to the ls1, what are the gain compaired to the ls6 manofold besides the porting ability.

I wish we could get one to do some testing. :blueangel:

I have this article sitting in front of me, and it looks like a nice intake. It has integrated bungs built into the manifold for fogger nozzles, for those of you that spray. It also says that it has a burst panel in the rear of the manifold in case of a nitrous explosion. The manifold has flatter and wider ports, and comes apart, in three pieces, so that it can be ported. If you look at the picture that Flyin' Brian posted, it shows the port, with witness grooves in it, so that it can be error-proof ported (Don't have to worry about going through the side of the manifold). Might be just what the Doctor ordered for you guys with the big inchers!

Very exciting if there are gains to be had... :yesnod: Many of us strokers could really benefit from the increase in velocity ..Let's get the CF vendors involved and get more info..

Wow, if it can be ported then that explains why they'd come out with a new design. Cool! Better heat retarding than an aluminum one, with the same ability to be ported! Suh-WEET!

Re: New Intake Manifold from F.A.S.T. (Flyin'Brian)
This appears to be the Wilson intake we have been talking about, if so without porting they were getting 12 to 15rwhp across the board above the ls6 intake, someone on the forum thought these were going to be in the 2K range, one of the major tuners told me he was getting 6 to 8rwhp out of the new TPIS oval billet TB this could add up to 20+ and a little porting for the stroker could be more, but for 2K I would want somebody who knows what they are doing to carve up this intake---

Re: New Intake Manifold from F.A.S.T. (NEPTUNEBILL)
2k???? thats a shame. I have always had a bug about the LS6 intake. It takes maybe $4 dollars plastic and a low temp melt out insert core to mold them and they get $400. Now with a 3 peice design they dont even have the melt out core to fool with. I know they should get some profit for their effort but a 500X markup seems extreme to me. just my .02. It does look cool though.

As long as it sticks consistantly to the $100/rwhp range, I think it isnt that bad of a deal. Although it would be nice to be able to bolt on 20rwhp for $500. Unfortunately that doesn't happen on engines after you change air intakes.

This will generate a lot of interest right up until the moment they announce the price.
It will just be another over priced product that gives pennies of horsepower.
I hope it brings the price down on the LS6 intake which is too high in price to begin with.

I find it fascinating how some of you guys can judge a product's worth long before it's objectively tested or offered for sale. You're missing out on a good living by not working for Proctor and Gamble helping them avoid marketing mistakes.

No one really knows how much this will cost. Several people are just making up numbers here. $2000 for a mass produced plastic intake manifold? Come on. Get real. Over on the other forums they were saying $800-1000. Again, someone pulled this number out their butt and everybody ran with it. FAST has to know that to be competitive, they are going to have to stay in the $500 range.
