Valentine 1 Stealth Mirror Install
Has anyone done this, is this just a display or is the detector built into the mirror?
Where can I get it?
Thanks
Jim

Re: Valentine 1 Stealth Mirror Install (Hammer)
I had read that a few months back, look up the archives for it. The only way it would be a true STEALTH install is if you take all the sensors of the V1 and have it installed in the mirror.
What is in the pic is the concealed attachment of the V1 mounted to a mirror. You still have to place the V1 in your dash/windshield where the sensor can pick up radar bands.
IMHO, I would like the arrows on the LEFT side of the mirror. That setup renders the right hand of the mirror useless, adding up to your blindspot.
It was also wishful thinking around here to add the V1 on the C5's HUD but nothing came out of it.

Chris is correct. I contacted the guy (non-supporting vendor) via email and got pictures and a quote on converting over to this setup. It was expensive  to say the least. The company was based out of Europe. Below is a daytime shot of the mirror.

Re: Valentine 1 Stealth Mirror Install (Hammer)
There is a local vendor (Toronto, CA) that manufactured several of these units for BMW's.
It was even more discreet than these units; b/c when it was off, there was no visual markings on the mirror. When it was on, the lighting would show through the mirror. The cost was around $400 dollars (CA).
I'll see if I can find pics of the one's made for the BMW mirrors, and post.
If there's enough interest, I'll contact that vendor, and see if he can do something with our rear view mirrors.

Re: Valentine 1 Stealth Mirror Install (barkingowl)
Go over to the big Acura NSX board and do a search, the guy over there makes them. I think they are $400-500 and as someone else said you still have to mount the detector somewhere. The NSX guys got lucky and have a rear taillight box mounted in their back window that most of them use.

I e-mailed this company about their mirrors (which look VERY  ), and they told me that they couldn't do them for a vette. I could keep bugging them though. :D

If anyone wants the info I have on the unit pictured in my post, please email me at edbon@adelphia.net and I'll send you the contact info. As I said, they're not a supporting vendor.

Here is the info on that guy... His name is jsp98m3 on http://www.nsxprime.com
Here is his website... http://www.apexcone.com/Radar/RadarLove.html
I didn't see a price, but the NSX guys were talking about it being more like $200. Regardless, I think it's pretty trick. :)

Re: Valentine 1 Stealth Mirror Install (Hammer)
Didn't a Forum member do something like this a few months ago? Had pictures of taking the mirror apart, removing the silver with paint remover - something like that. Maybe a good search would turn it up. In any case, it involved a LOT of work and a definite bit of skill in soldering... Really a  mod...
