Re: Changing my M6 tranny fluid? (SLICKMAN)
Thanks for the info changing the M6 tranny fluid is my next maintenance item since I am at 30,000 miles. Mobil 1 syn ATF is probably going to be my choice.

When you have a hard time getting it into first, does it sometimes grind a little because it was not all the way engaged and you thought it was?.
I'm used to it but it's one of the reasons why i don't valet my car.
I don't have any issues at all with any other gear. I'm hoping changing the fluid will help this! It's horrible when the light turns green and i'm trying to find first gear :mad

Amsoil only makes one type of ATF. If you interested in a price email me :)

Yep, thats what mine does, now I know I'm not alone..

It will only grind if i lift on the clutch alittle bit....otherwise i have to put it into other gears (3rd seems to work) before going into first gear.

Mine was doing the grinding thing. The synthetic seems to have cured it.

How long have you guys been running syncromesh? I really want to go this route since this is the GOD of all oils in my Talon (it wont shift without it.) I'm just hesitant to use it in my vette.

I have been running Synchromesh for about 3 mos now.. I love it.. The weird part is it seem to have gotten even better in the past month. :smash: :smash:

That's exactly what mine does! It seems as though it takes "two clicks" to get the tranny into first. I have retrained myself to place extra force on the shifter anytime I put it into first. Now I find myself doing the same thing in my daily driver Mustang too.
I believe it has two synchros per gear. What you are feeling is the second synchro engaging.

Which amsoil automatic tranny fluid did you use? They sell a couple of different types from normal duty to full race.

Thanks for the info! My 2000 also sometimes has a problem with first ( strange the dealer could never find it!) I'm going to change the trans fluid ASAP!
