Default Header Shoot Out Post your before and after dyno numbers and Vote

I want to see what your getting for peck Hp and Tq gains also what gains they’re getting under the curve. I’m looking to see what gains your getting from just headers, so post the mods the car had before and after, and what extra mods you did between those dyno’s besides headers. I know some headers come with hi flow cats, X pipe, and pipes so you can remove the cats completely. I know Kook is coming out with headers in 6-8 weeks and I hear Borla are coming out with XR-1 headers. Thanks

Vote on the best headers also.

I had 369.4 rwhp and 359rwtq with just a blackwing and loudmouth exhaust. I added the FLPs header system with highflow cats and got 362.7rwhp and 358.9rwtq. No tuning was done but still I should have gained some sort of hp and really didnt expect a loss. Oh well that crappy FLP set up is off my car now. They are such a horrible product, first they come in all scratched and beat up and I have to go through hell to get em replaced (its nice that the company blames the customer for the scratches even though according to my tracking number i had them for 5 minutes before I called), then they dont perform when I finally get a set in new condition. Now I see they are having quality problems again....doesn't surprise me at all but thats what you should expect from Finish Last Performance

I picked up 15rwhp/5rwtq peak from my Stainless Works Headers, Xpipe and Muffler system over the TTS Headers, custom off-road Xpipe and B&B Route66 system I had before.

I lost 9 peak hp and upto 35ft lbs of toque from 2000-4500 rpm from my Cartek headers and Stianless Works exhaust.

BTW I have a 395 stroker.

If its not at the rpm where you make the most power than its not peak. Looks like you lost some power down low. We are going to take off my cartek headers soon to try a normal size one....the bigger primarys are just too much for a 346 and maybe too much for your 395. They love the big cubes however. I think Tek Warrior picked up 25 hp peak over TPIS and a bunch down low too.

Thats so weird man. How big of a motor is he running? I am going to try a bigger cam to see if that will help.

BTW I should edit my original statement.

I lost 9 peak hp at 6200ish rpm. I also lost from 20-35tq between 2000-4500rpm. I figured I would lose some torque but the peak loss kinda has me confused.

kumar,You must have a tuning issue or your particular set up doesn't like the bigger diameter,I gained 12 Peak and up to 30HP at some rpm's under the curve, with my Cartek 1-7/8,headers.

with the old stock motor last year, with standard minor bolt-on junk like intake, maf, cat-back, here's my results with the FLP full system with high their high flow cats:
Before:
323rwhp
341rwtq

After:
350rwhp
366rwtq

a 27rwhp/24rwtq gain. NO EDIT TUNING, either, at this point, just MAFT. I would not get Edit for another couple months. I was very impressed. Plus, I like the V-clamps. However, the accuracy and quality of workmanship is not perfect. I've aleady had a collector retain tab bust completely off the driver side header. I had to have the hole welded up which ruined the nice ceramic finish. oh well, i'm about the performance, not looks.

I went from 368.6rwhp/359.7rwtq to 381.3rwhp/373.4rwtq using the tpis headers. I have since changed over to the carteks (getting ready for the 408)
And havent had the car dynoed since then. I do think it will hurt me on motor but should help on nitrous.

Kumar you lost hp/tq with the Carteks? Man that sucks.I would have thought the headers is what was holding you back. Are you using nitrous on you car?

No nitrous YET. :D

I am not sure yet whether I am gonna keep the Cartek or switch back to TPIS or shell out the money for some Stainless Works.

I dynoed with new Stainless Works headers installed and:
A>with the filter element removed in the PCV (CH)
B>With the filter element installed, not cleaned and unmodified.
Previous run with PCV and mods in sig, less headers--369HP&355/TQ

Today run 1 without element in PCV and SW headers and cats--384HP&371TQ

Today run 2 with element and headers--- 385HP&372TQ

Run 3 same as 2 above

So the PCV mod makes no difference and the SWs add ~16HP&17TQ without tuning.

I am running about 14 A/F at peak HP so another tune is in order.

Before TTS headers 308hp/330 tq. Only Vortex and SLP Loudmouth.
After TTS install only 334hp/350tq.
Predator tuning gave me another 3-5hp/tq

Gains followed the factory curve almost exactly with the increase levels.

Question for the Cartek header guys: are you running a reverse split cam?

We just installed the Stainless Works Headers with the 3" mid-section and are very pleased with the results. The car gained aprox 20hp and 20 Ftlbs/tq but what is most impressive is that the gains are from just over 2k to redline!! No-where did the car lose any tq/hp at all... Click on the dyno graph below to see the difference between when the car had a stock exhaust system and now with the Stainless Works. BTW, the cat-back is the Z-06 TI system.

Max Power before headers: 367.99 / 361.41 TQ

Max Power after SW Headers: 384.74/ 379.00 TQ

Dyno conditions: 99.2 degrees/44% humidity/104degrees IAT Temp/204 Coolant Temp/30.12"/ All dyno measurements are SAE.
