Hi there,
Well, decarb is usually a last resort to excessive cold start noise, or even worse, engine detonation.
Usually, 12345515 Fuel system additive once every six months from a new purchase, will usually take care of all carbon build up issues on daily driven cars.
If for some reason, you drive short trips, without any extended long driving, then the service interval will increase, because carbon buildup is not burned off.

I took some of the cleaner and placed it in a cup and put some carbed up valves in it. After 24 hours of soaking, NONE of the carbon would come off the valves and there was little black markings on the WHITE towel I wiped the valves with. I then heated a valve and then poured the GM TEC onto it and the carbon started to come off within 15 minutes. The cold procedure doesn't work and the only part of it that might be helping is the heated test drive part. It is best to follow GM's insructions on the can. I poured it into the car while running at full temperature. I see little advantage of waiting 6-12 hours with the car cold before blowing out the carbon as most people on the forum have suggested. Heat seems to be one of the most important elements to the cleaning.

Re: Decarb tell me more (SpinMonster)
it's easier to add water ( slowly ) thru the brake booster vac. line while the engine is running.
Works great without the getting messy. :yesnod:
