Default Lingenfelter siamesed bore LS-1 block

Lingenfelter has a $3350 alternative to the C5-R block. He's basically sleeved the LS-1 block with larger, siamesed cly liners. If anyone has used one of these, I have a question:

I think the stock liners are poured or sprayed in, to ward off potential leaks between the water jackets and the crankcase. The Lingenfelter liners are pressed fit with "o" rings to seal against water leakage. Is anyone aware of any reliability issues? sj

The stock sleeves are cast in place.. The C5R block has thicker water jackets to better support the larger sleeve..

I'm currently thinking about a 2-year savings plan so I can get a C5R427 :D

I think this is the new Darton sleeved LS1 blocks that LPE is selling.

Yes. The Darton sleeve is much stronger than the stock sleeve which allows it to be bored out to 4.155" :)

That is what I keep hearing but does anyone know anyone that is running one of these blocks? Any testing with high amounts of power? Are there any even on the road?

I know ARE spent a few years developing and testing their Darton-sleeved block to get it where it is today.. You could probably bore it to the same but ARE prefers to keep it to 4.100" and maybe 4.125" for strictly N/A uses..

I believe that Nineball over on the LS1tech board is running a 4.155" bore by 4.00" stroke for a 434 CID motor.

WAS running you mean. Check out his most recent post: http://www.ls1tech.com/ubb/ultimateb...c;f=1;t=010728

I know of another friend of mine that has had some issues with a bore that big as well. However, Im not sure if they have came to the conclusion that the sleeves were to blame yet.

Regardless, these engines I just mentioned are MTI resleeved motors, whom I do not believe use Darton sleeves.

MTI is not using Darton sleeves. LPE has used the DArton's for awhile (according to them) and they have held up to high HP high boost motors.

This sleeve design is a wet sleeve design just like a big diesel. It amkes its own deck, so sleeves slipping won't be an issue like pressed sleeves.

JL pretty much warranties everything for 2 years and bases his reputation on reliability so I would think he spent time with ths setup before he would put his name on it. My bet is its pretty reliable.

I have my doubts LPE will put a warranty on this block if its used in a heavy forced induction or nitrous setup and that is why I am curious as to what type of power has been tested on it. I am sure Mr. Potter will join in here soon and let us know the specifics.

LPE has not done a whole lot of testing yet, from what I understand. I think Cartek jumped in first and pushed everybody else into the ring before a bunch of testing was done. I do not know of any 4.155 darton sleeve block going through 300 shots or 10# of boost.... yet ;)
