Shifter cable adjustment
Helping a friend change his 2001 transmission shifter cable. We got the new cable installed but it is like 1/8" too long. I did a search on how to adjust it and came up with many different answers. It shifts fine but too much force to engage park. It is not correct. Appreciate any help.

Shift Cable Adjustments:
Use a flat-blade screwdriver to release the transmission shift control cable adjustment lock. This lock is on the transmission side of the cable and usually is red in color.
Make sure that the Transmission Shifter is in the neutral position.
Make sure that the Transmission is in the neutral position.
Press to secure the transmission shift control cable adjustment lock, and that's it, the shifter cable is adjusted.

Jim, thank you for the reply. I seen this red lock mentioned when I did my search. Neither the new cable or the old cable had a red locking devise. I don't believe they have a lock in any color. I will check again on Monday.I see they changed the cable mid year 2003. Don't know if maybe they added the lock. I will let you know what I find.
