I've got a 98 corvette and I just had the tires and 4 new TPMS sensors installed. I ordered the Schrader Valves TPMS part number 29178 from parts geek for the 1998. I can not get the car to recocognize them. I'm going through the proper steps but when it says Learn L front tire I set a magnet on it and no luck. I purchased the Schader magnet and even orderd a fishing magnet rated 300lbs and nothing. The car has ZO6 wheels on it. Any ideas?

Those Schrader sensors are not triggerable with a magnet.

The TPMS magnet is not compatible with this TPMS sensor.
A TPMS trigger tool is required to complete the TPMS relearn process.


You need a tool to trigger them for relearn. Search for "OEC-T5" on amazon.

I have been looking at these same Schrader 29718 sensors for my ‘99. Please let us know when and how you resolve this TPMS triggering problem.

I have some other sensors that are similar that I've been keeping stock of for forum members. They also require the tool for relearn but I believe they will probably last longer than the Schraders as they can be programmed for the desired application in a powered cradle. This preserves a significant bit of battery life. $130 a set including postage to domestic addresses. PM me if interested.
