Default Air Bag Removal Question

I'm replacing the stock steering wheel on my 98 C5, and following a couple of Youtube videos on the subject, I inserted a 2 ohm resistor in the former airbag connector terminals. Problem: I'm still showing an airbag problem light. Did I miss another step?

I'm assuming you have a fault code, have you tried clearing fault codes for the BCM (body control module) in the DIC?

Not a fault code: the air bag symbol on the dash display.

If you have a fault code that will cause the air bag light to come on, the same way a engine fault code will cause a check engine light.

Along the lines of what @mmartinez is saying, if you have an airbag fault light, then there will be an airbag system fault code. Try clearing that in the DIC, and see if the light turns off and stays off. Sometimes for this type of system you have to manually clear the fault for the system to reset the fault light.

I have a resistor in mine with an aftermarket wheel and I still get the airbag light once in a while. Clearing the codes in the DIC makes it go off for a bit. Slightly annoying, but not bad.
