Will my FLP long tube setup from my '99 work on an '02 Z06?
I know I just bought my 99 a year ago, but I can’t avoid the temptation of the 02 Z06. I know they don’t have all that EGR crap on the newer models, but I don’t want to throw my FLP long tube exhaust system away on the trade in, and instead would like to put them on the 02.
Is this possible? I think they will bolt directly up, just the AIR (I think that’s what they call it) tube will have to be blocked off.
Also, the GMAF I’m assuming I could use also?? Please advise.

I do believe the fitment will be fine. as you stated, you can work around the AIR stuff. your GMAF will work fine, too, if the 99 is a 5 wire MAF. I forget which year went to the 5 wire (where the inlet air temp sensor became part of the MAF instead of stand alone one the 97-98 (?) model years).

I believe that the headers will fit although the 02 exhaust manifolds are much better than the 99's. I doubt you will see a 10 hp gain with the LOngtubes on the 02. I think the MAF is a different size too. I used a GMAF on my car for quite a while and it turned out to actually be hurting performance.
If anything I would change the exhaust system out and keep the GMAF off of the car.

Not a bad idea, however I was wondering from people experience if this is actually possible. I can call xtrememotorsports (where I got them) to ask, but its much easier to post the question in the middle of the night :)
GMAF hurting your performance? Wow, every car I have used mine on has had a noticeable difference. On my 98 Z28, on the dyno alone was over 10 hp gain. The addition of the GMAF put me in the 12s on the track on my current Corvette.
I have heard mixed stories about the GMAF and performance issues, but I have lucked out with gaining some.
As for the FLPs on the 02, I will have to consider if I want to replace the titanium exhaust with the sweet FLP system that I have. Maybe Ill just sell my FLPs online if I cant make it work.

When you order FLPs they want to know whether your car is a '97-'00 or '01-'03.
So, you may be SOL! :) :(

That is because the secondary air tube location on the passenger side header/manifold is different on the 01 and newer cars. Necessitating either the correct header or a replacement tube assembly from the diverter valve to the header.
Give me a call and I can get the tube for you if you want to use the headers on the new car.

First of all, that POS FLP header won't fit your new ride. Give give them to me for $50. :jester
Second, why did you not call me when you are buying a new ride? Am I not your friend? :cry :cry :cuss :boxing :p:
Hehehe, actually I had the similiar problem when I was trying to sell Lloyd's headers and Andy of A&A said that the tube is off by a few inches and just bend the air tubes to make it fit. But don't ask me how, I do not know how it's done. I just heard it from Andy....

as for bending the headers.. humm.. that sounds like a lot of work. That pipe does not look easy to bend. Ill have to compare with the 02 when I bring in to see just how hard it will be.
