Default Car will not start

Was driving and stopped to get gas and will not start back up. All electronics work horn, lights and radio. When I turn the key the only sound I get is a click in the area of the fuse box on the floor.

Sounds like your battery is a goner. See if the car starts with a jump. If so, take it to an Auto Zone and ask them to put on a tester (they will do this no charge) and it will be able to tell the condition of the batter, starter and alternator.

I would start at the battery also. When is the last time you checked the battery cable connections for corrosion or tightness?

I have had that happen on other cars where a simple hand-twist of the terminal on the battery got it started and home, then followed with a good cleaning.

Had the same thing happened to me. It was a dead position of the starter.

Have the battery tested or messure voltage across the terminals should be around 12.5 volts. The clicking noise you hear is the TDR it is the relay that sends power to the starter solenoid to crank the engine over. You could have a bad TDR, loose cable connections at the starter solenoid, or has been mentioned the starter could be at fault.

Forgot to mention that you can determine if the TDR is or is not the cause of the no crank condition. The TDR is located above the BCM it has four wires two small gauge yellow wires and a red and violet wires, by inserting a wire jumper between the red and violet wires at the TDR socket if the car cranks over the TDR needs replacing, if nothing happens it's probably your starter. WARNING make absolutely sure the car is in Park or neutral before doing this as the car will crank over if nothing else is wrong.

The BCM is the body control model and is located behind the toe board in the passenger foot well area where the interior fuse box is located. A wire jumper is simply a small length of wire with the insulation removed on both ends that you use to jumper across two points.

If you're a "novice" at diagnostics this may be a little over your head as far as a repair is concerned...I'd take the car to an auto-electric shop in your area...they should be able to fix it !!

TDR stands for Theft Deterrant Relay, it is the relay that sends power to energize the starter. I second C5 Diag about having a shop look at your car as you have to have some level of technical knowledge to diagnose your cars no cranking problem.

BEST to start a NEW thread instead of hijacking this one…makes following the thread less confusing…so is this a crank no start ??…if it’s slow to start have your battery checked…if it cranks normally do your heat the fuel pump turn on for 2 seconds when the key is turned on…you can try spraying Brake Kleen or starter fluid into the brake booster hose or PCV hose going into the intake manifold…if the car starts you may have a fuel delivery issue.
