Since the resynching doesn’t work even with NEW batteries, I assume I will need replacement fobs. Where should I purchase them?

I replaced the fobs on my 98 coupe last year, purchased off the auction website. Some Chevy dealers also carry this replacement model. If your looking for the new replacement here is the model number:

Question, is your tire pressure monitoring system working properly? The receiver for the key fobs is also works the TPMS.

Followed the YouTube exactly but the FOB does not learn

I'd look on Ebay. I also have a '98 but upgraded my receiver to a 2003 and was then able to buy the less expensive fobs on Ebay. I got two for $10.00 about 2 years ago and they have worked perfectly. I don't know how much the 1998 fobs cost but do know they're a lot more... Changing the receiver requires new tire sensors and fobs in addition to the receiver.

1997-2000 key fobs can typically be repaired by inspecting the solder joints on the main chip and re-soldering any broken joints. I have fixed several of them using this method.
