Z06 Ti exhaust vs. stock- any hp gain?
I just purchased a take-off Z06 Ti exhaust to replace the stock exhaust on my 98 coupe. I know that the sound is superior on the Ti exhaust and the weight savings is significant; I was just wondering if the Ti is less restrictive. TIA for any comments.

I installed the same system on my 01 with heads/cam and honestly felt that my performance improved. My thinking is that, if it's sound is different, there must be some improvement in flowing of the exhaust, which equates to more power. Most will disagree and they may be right.
I say, install it and enjoy the improved sound and questionable improved performance. Good luck.

Approx 30% better flow and 17 pounds lighter from what I've read.

PS - take delivery of my new 50th AE vert Friday morning and will be doing the same mod Friday afternoon - along with the ZO6 breather box.

Plus the 4 big SS tips look so much better than the "Cadillac" tips that came on the stock exhaust. I can't wait for the weather and the roads to clear so that I can get to drive it. Here is a picture:

if you car has pre-cats, I would think that to feel power gains from another exhaust ... you would need to gut/remove the pre-cats as well.

My car has the Z06 exhaust and Vortech intake. With these two mods alone I picked up a significant amount of HP. Hope you are able to squeeze a few out as well.

Hi all,
Yes 17 lbs weight loss ...is cool.
30% more flow...could someone point me to the study/ dyno etc on that. 30%...it cool too.
I have a vested interest...Ti arriving next week from a fellow co-member.

Can't comment on HP gain - but, on my recently installed system - initial observations as follows:
Fit, Finish, Looks are great - all the exhaust tips line up correctly - no rattles or squeaks - should be, as was designed for C5 cars.
Sound -at idle is more aggressive than stock C5 system - but, not obtrusive.
Sound -at cruise is more aggressive than stock C5 system - but, not obtrusive - depending on the road surface - runflat tires can be heard over the exhaust.
Sound - at WOT is a lot more aggressive than stock C5 system - but, not obtrusive - at least not from sound heard from inside car.
No snap, crackling or pop on down shifting.
No resonance inside car.
In my opinion - this is the exhaust system that should have come from the factory on all C5's.

Re: Z06 Ti exhaust vs. stock- any hp gain? (thevettenet CA)
I am going to be installing a Ti system on my 98 in a few days. The 2002 ZO6 had a problem with the "H" pipe having restrictive holes in the "H" crossover pipe. Does anyone know if they all are like that????
If someone can tell me the answer I will be very happy! If it is restrictive like the 2002 ZO6 I will cut, grind and weld it back up.
Any one had a early C5 "H" pipe apart???
Thanks in advance!
Bill

When you have the exhaust pipes installed, remove the center pipe and drill it out to a larger hole,OR install a Magnaflow X-pipe.I vied to install a X-pipe from Magna flow.Either way it will be better than the small hole that is drilled in the exhaust pipe in the stock pipe.I cut the h-pipe to look at the hole and my car had a small hole which I am guessing was about 1" in diameter. :chevy :chevy :flag :flag :chevy :chevy

I found the same when I replaced the 02 LS6 lid with a Blackwing. No gain in RWHP. That's why I have added as many Z06 parts to my as I can.
The OEM Z06 parts are designed very well. Guess that's why they are on the Z06.

Somebody please educate me. When we are talking Z06 Ti exhaust, we are talking about the stock Z06 exhaust, right???

Hi all,
I am now a Ti owner.
In my humble opinion there is no sound difference (decellaration or accelleration) over OEM with Mid America clip on tips.
In my SOTP meter..no horse power or torgue improvements.
However, very big...even huge weight savings. Big thumbs up.
Also, the Ti metal color is fabulous (sp) on my pewter vert. The Ti metal shows though the slitted exhaust ports in the rear bumper and the Ti color fits in ..I'll say it ..perfectly. Way better than the OEM black, and since I have pewter I'll say better color fit than stainless or aluminum or chrome.
One major appearance negative, the tips are round. I preferred the oval MidAm tip look. However, it has been said with time comes beauty.

In my humble opinion there is no sound difference (decellaration or accelleration) over OEM from within inside the car... but noticeable to anyone outside the car .
Which was exactly what I wanted. I personally like quiet interiors and the ZO6 titaniums fit my request perfectly.

Hello all,
Mike could very well be correct. In my Vert with the roof up...I could not hear an interior sound difference.
Yet, from the outside, my ears did not detect a difference: noting that my replaced mufflers had 36K mileage. That is not to say my ears are correct. If it is more aggressive out back...way cool!!! Thanks for the opening an oppurtunity to further investigage a little "drive-by" roar.
