Tech 2 won't connect for chassis diagnosis
Hello, I apologize if this has been covered or belongs in Tech. I did a search and couldn't find anything on this particular topic. I just purchased a Tech 2 clone for an ABS bleed on my 2000 base hatchback. I know I need to choose 98 for an autobleed, but it doesn't seem to matter what year I choose. I can look up any other type of information, but if I go to diagnosis, 1998 (or 2000), passenger car, chassis, Y, all I get is:
no communication with vehicle
check diagnostic link connector
check ignition <off/on>
The ignition is on and the CANdi is flashing. The ABS and traction control lights are on. The only code I'm getting is p1689. Any suggestions?

With the “No Comm” that you can’t communicate with the car and the fact you have the ABS and TRAC lights on along with the P1689 try disconnecting the EBCM connector and see if you can now communicate with the car with the Tech 2 or try removing fuses 52 (ABS) and fuse 5 (ABSTRNS)..also make sure those fuses are good !!…I will move this over to Tech.

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I still can't get the Tech 2 to communicate for a diagnosis of the chassis. What I don't understand is that it will communicate for a powertrain or body diagnosis.

You should be able to go beyond that screen even with a No Comm !!…see if you can get your hands on another scan tool…what DTC’s do you see when accessing them through the DIC ??

What version of the software is your TECH 2 running? You mentioned you only saw 8 to his 11 modules listed. If you power down your unit and power it back up, on the splash screen that says TECH 2, there is also the software version listed. What does it show?

Im in the same boat. I have a 2002 Z06 track only car that I physically removed EBCM, wheel speed sensors, so no driver aids at all. But I keep getting P1571 and P1689 codes. The car has reduced power when full throttle, I tried to go to "chassis" to delete or unactivate those items but cant. Any suggestions? THX Brian
Note: I do have the Tech2 clone

Melting Slicks
I had visions of the ABS bleeding business when I put on my C6Z brakes. There's a whole procedure where you have to pressurize the reservoir - I got it all going (with Tech 2) but when it told me to go to the first wheel I was never to get any fluid to come out. It was also making a lot of noise (ABS pump) while doing this. I gave up and just "pumped the pedal" and its been "good enough"...
