How to tell if dead window is relay or motor?
So drivers side window will not go down. I push button and hear a click but nothing. I have been researching as I get ready to perform a DIY repair.
One thing I cannot find is how to figure out if it is the door control module/Window Relay OR the motor?
If anyone has some experience or links to videos that would be great. Missed a track day due to this damn thing. Thanks!

If you remove the doorpanel you can verify if the relays is gone bad or not.
On these old relay the contact sets get burned og cause huge voltage drops over the contact set
If you measure with a DVOM between C2:E and C3:C you will see what kind of voltage going to the window motor when you try to open the window
Here is my relay for the driver door lock actuator faling (green cursor) .Only a few volts going to the actuator.
Locking relay worked fine (orange cursor) and the acuator gets close to 12 volts.
I replaced both relays for the actuatormotor to avoid any problems from these relays for a long time

Once the door panel is removed you should be able to unplug the motor. Then jumper 12 volts and ground to the leads. One way is up. The other way is down. If that works the motor is good. Now test the leads from the relay with a volt meter. It may be a simple bad connection. Good luck.

Or smack the door and see if it starts working again. Mine does that every once in a while. I removed the door panel once to find the motor, whacked it, and it started working again. . . for a while.

Thanks!
Oelarse, I just went through cleaning up the groundpacks and all the DCM and button pad contacts in both doors.
Everything functions properly now except for a clicking relay in the LDCM for the DS window.
Thanks for the detailed write up. Now I'm going to probe the pins to make sure it's the relay and then go find a replacement module.

Your welcome
If you probe the voltage from the relays and the voltage is not stable I recommend to replace the relays .
It's much cheaper then replacing the module.
If the voltage from the relays are OK , you may need to lubricate the locking actuator .
Below is some pictures from a friend who took his actuator apart like the images below shows .
His locking actuator worked occationaly but after this little job it work everytime
Relasing the arm to the alarmswitch
positionmark for the alarmswitch

Thanks again for the quick and detailed reply. Unfortunately my problem is with the DS window. Replaced the entire assembly 2 years ago. I’ve watched a couple of videos related to R&R of the relays. My soldering skills and patience are not up to that task at this point. It’s worth the $99 to me for the DCM at this point. I managed to get the PS window, both locks and mirrors working, don’t want to get greedy.

Bad connection at pin C2 E… put a probe in it, pushed the down button and voila! It works. Took probe out and still working now. I’ll reseat all the pins and keep my fingers crossed.
