Can a 2000 be easily upgraded to 2001 and later keyless receiver?
Right now I use key to open my 2000. It came with one remote transmitter. I will try to replace the battery and re-program it. I owned a 98 and a 99 in the past and I had remotes that died on me. The early remotes are getting expensive. The late remotes are dirt cheap in comparison. Is it possible to simply swap a receiver from 01 and later car into a 2000, or will it require re-wiring, module re-programming and other serious modifications?

Melting Slicks
There were a few posts on here that showed what was involved in the swap.I do know that the TPMS sensors will need to be updated to the later style.I will see if I can find any of the old posts or you can search on here and probably find the info that you need.

Drifting
I have a '98 and did update the receiver to a 2003 from a wreck. It required changing the tire sensors and the remotes. There are various places to buy the sensors from about $25.00 each up to $50.00 each. I bought the 2003 receiver for $35.00 and the remotes on Ebay, 2 for $10.00. The wiring on the new receiver is identical to my '98, color for color. I asked the dealer for the 2003 plug - which is different from the '98 - and he cut it out for me which made the job a quick splice in change. A simple update that took about 30 minutes not including the tires. You must program the new remotes and the new tire sensors to the new receiver. GOOD LUCK!
