Need your backspacing for 18x12 or 18x13 wheels
For those who have mini tubs and 18x12 or 18x13 wheels that don't stick out of the wheel well very far please let me know what backspacing your wheels have. I am about to order a custom set and need to know what backspacing works best. I will be getting a mini tub and do not want my tires sticking out of the wheel well very far. My setup will be 18x12 and 18x10. Thanks :seeya

Re: Need your backspacing for 18x12 or 18x13 wheels (RCswish)
Well I found these specs on Mell's FRC page, anyone running this fitament with out tubbing?
Rear Wheels
18" X 12" wheels with 68mm (9 1/8 inch backspacing)
Front Wheels
18" X 10" wheels with 50mm offset (7 1/5 inch backspacing).
Man, it is like a dry desert in here when somebody starts talking about offsets and backspacing...I think I can hear my sweat hit the sand :D

I use an 8 3/4 inch backspacing on my 17x12 racing wheels. The tires still stick out a bit, but I have to leave some room for some camber.

John (Racewheel), what offset would you recommend to get a 12inch wheel as far into the wheel well as possible?

If you were to measure the existing front spacing, you would probably find as I did 3 3/8" to 3 5/8" from the hub to the outer fender. (Variance due to misaligned fenders etc.) Which will give you a backspacing of ~9 1/2". Remember that a 12" wheel is measured from bead to bead and will be 13" overall width. Call HRE, bet they will tell you the dimensions of their 12 and 13 wide wheels for a tubbed C5.
BTW - I believe John @ CCW uses a backspacing of 8 3/4" on his 11.5 wide wheels. This would give a front spacing of 3 3/4". And we know these stick out of the fender ~1/4" depending on alignment etc.

Re: Need your backspacing for 18x12 or 18x13 wheels (RCswish)
I have HRE 547 18X12 wheels...they are cut to the "Mallet" spec, the 68mm offset will keep a 335/30/18 flush with the fender. I have 345/35/18's and they stick out maybe 1/4"...not very noticable. If you use 18X12 wheels and this offset, you have to tub. My tub is about 1 1/4"...just enough to give minimum clearance. BFG is comming out with a new 345/30/18 drag radial...it should be within !/4" of the fender with this offset.

Re: Need your backspacing for 18x12 or 18x13 wheels (HIGHRPM)
When you say offset, what exact dimension are you speaking of? Is it the measurement from the backside (side that touches the hub) of the center piece ot the lip on the fromt of the wheel. I have 10.5" HRE"s now, I am getting ready to tub, HRE tells me that they will just add 1 1/2" to the "back barrel" of the wheel and it should be fine. In other words the measurement from the center piece to the fromt lip will not change. Does this sound right?

Re: Need your backspacing for 18x12 or 18x13 wheels (LANJET)
That is correct....I had my 547's increased from 11" to 12"....the 1" was added to the back barrel. The outer lip, center and offset remain as before.
