C6 Z06 Brakes are on!
Spent the morning with my baby on the quickjack. Removed the stock 01 Z06 brakes, replaced with C6 Z06 calipers, rotors, pads and pins.
Motul DOT 4 fluid, DRM stainless brake lines, stock GM rotors heat painted, GM caliper pins, Duralast Gold padlets (it’s a street car, pads seem really nice).
I already put 18” stock Alcoa’’s on the front running 285/35 - 295/35 tires. The big calipers fit great behind the stock 18’s. No spacers necessary!
Was a fun upgrade. Paint will burn off the fire path after a few runs.

Fit and finish is excellent, I actually did this in a C6 I had, required 6mm spacers to make it fit. So happy that the C5 Z wheels in 18” cover those huge calipers and rotors. Really fills up the centers now!
Braking is awesome, the C5 Z I though had a decent brake feel, but it’s amazing the bite it has now. Bleeding is key, and I think the DOT 4 synthetic fluid and stainless lines help pedal feel.
Love the stock look of the wheels, makes you take a double take though on the brakes.

Are the C6 Z06 front rotors sold as right and left sides? When first introduced, the C6 used the same rotor on both sides, which defies logic. For normal or aggressive street driving they should be OK, Definitely not for track use. Rotor cooling is enhanced when air is taken in at the hub and "pumped" out at the rotor's O.D. Curved blades when installed on the correct sides pump air better than straight blades. Logically, it seems that rotors with curved blades would not pump cooling air as well if they were on the wrong side(s).

Yes- bought them on Amazon. They already have grey primer on them, so I simply hi temp painted them gloss black. I painted the veins and the drill holes to prevent rust as much as possible. You drive around the block bedding in the pads, cuts the paint right off the path of the pads.
