Default Excessive balck dust(soot) on exhaust tips ?

I might just be crazy but seems, I get a fairly good amount of black dust (soot) on the ends of my speedway PRT tips. Could this possible indicate a too rich or too lean condition? and therefore robbing me of some power? We all know good tuning isnt cheap, just trying to see if I have an indicator that I might benefit from it. :seeya :chevy

I have it too on the Borlas. I just figured it was a little burning oil. Not a great thing, but it's intermittent and only a little bit. :seeya

I get the soot on my Corsas also. Originally I thought it was a rich/lean condition or maybe bad gasoline I was using. Talking to Forum members about seemed to point me in the direction of burning oil.

My chrome tips are constantly black with exhaust carbon. I wipe them down every time I drive! Car burns a qt every 1000 miles, (re-ring is already approved).
Look at other not vette cars also, exhuast tips are clean, and the inside of the pipe is light gray, not black like mine.
Hope this helps!

This is very normal for the C5, don't ask me why, maybe it is from the oil.

Mine doesn't burn any oil and the tips are black on the inside. Beleive it might be from running rich...

Same black on inside of tips. Someday maybe I will clean the insides but never yet! :chevy

Most likely nothing to worry about, but you are probably running a bit rich.

Mine were constantly grey until I added the super charger. Now mine are black, but my timing is much lower and I'm running much richer.

I think it will also get worse in the winter under cooler temps.

Thanks guys guess it is just normal. I don't burn any oil though so I don't think it has to do with that, maybe I just notice it more since I am always lookin at my shiny prt's
