Trans-Go for A4's - What does the jury say?
Hey, y'all! been a while since I've visited. Glad to see you're all well and gabbing away.
Who's got the Trans-Go kit installed? What are your impressions? What are the pros and cons? The kits cost approx $130, but how much for install? How does the Trans-Go rate on a "live-a-bility" scale? My vert is a daily driver.
I had a Mustang owner tell me that they radically shorten the life of the tranny. But then again, consider the source - a Mustang owner. But then again, will the Trans-Go void an extended warranty?
I hate it when the damn transmission drops into 4th gear, when I LEAST want it to, but at the same time, I'm not sure that driving around in "3" all the time is a good idea, either.
Comments, help, wisdom? (Puh-Lease don't tell me to get an M6!!! I've got what I've got, want to make the most of it.) Also, I'm not ignoring your replies - but i won't be able to check back until Saturday. Thanks!

The kit will not change shift points. What it will do is make shifts quicker, particularly the 1-2 shift. TransGo claims that it will lengthen the life of tranny due to less slippage and ware.
Prgramming will change shift points and firmness (line pressure).
I say go for it. i loved mine.

Vince Stella, Untouchable 00, and BuckMaster swear by it and love it!
The key in my opinion is to know or have a place that KNOWS how to install it. The part is cheap, the install is $150-200, but the key is having some do it that knows how to do it and has experience with it.
Now that I am keeping my car and adding 3.42's/SY3500/TR Cam/ASP pulley/ etc. I will consider it after I get everything installed and drive it awhile.
I know of no one in Dallas that has it and no one that is an expert at installing so that would be the reason I wouldn't get it installed.
Good luck.

Re: Trans-Go for A4's - What does the jury say? (2001 Red Coupe Bandit)
I don't know if The Vette Doctors used Trans Go or another brand but in combination with my other mods, I am very satisfied with the firmness and the shiftpoints for a daily driver and a 1/4 mile car all rolled up into one! I also made sure to change the tranny fluid a few times to Redline Synthetic for maximum protection.

The Transgo shift kit is the best bang for the buck A4 mod ...PERIOD! There is no PCM program that can duplicate the results from a Transgo shift kit.The best advice I can give you is find a competant experienced transmission technician and just DO IT!:smash:..It makes ALL the difference:D

I don't have one but will likely get it when/if the my tranny gets redone.
I had shift presure adjustements done with LS1 edit. Not he same them but my car shift flawlessly.
