Re: Which Tires to replace RF's (Bridgestone,Nittos,Kumho's???) $$ within (2001 Red Coupe Bandit)
Love my Nitto's and for a better than stock look I went with 255/40/17 up front and 285/35/18 in the rear with no driveability issues. Super sticky and a great bargain! By the way, I have close to 500 H.P. and they are plenty sticky when given a chance to warm up. I'm not too concerned with rain/snow conditions as the car is driven in dry conditions only, all year round. Temperatures could be as low as minus 20 to 120 above.

Everyone seems to love the S03's but the Nittos are a good deal. I guess if you are spending that much $$, what is $100 either way.
Thanks

I'm getting the Kumho MX's installed next week on my C5... based on feedback from people that have tried them. According to some, there only rival from a street tire is the BFG G-force KDs. I guess I'll see for myself. My C5 is not a daily driver, so I can run a Max Performance tire that is really not intended for rain or such.

Re: Which Tires to replace RF's (ncvetteman)
I was told teh Kumbo MX's were really good as well and they are as cheap as any tire made for the C5. Mine isn't a daily driver either and never driven in rain.
I wonder how good they are?????????????? If i knew they would be Good I would get them since they are $600 for all 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks

Bridgestone SO2's, 255/40/17 fronts, & 295/35/18 rear on stock rims no problem. Tire Rack, $188 each fronts, backs not much more.
You have to ask for Ferrari F50 replacements to get the rep to find them though...and Porsche for the fronts. They will say they don't make them any more if you just ask for SO2's......but they continue to for Ferrari & Porsche. I LOVE them!

Re: Which Tires to replace RF's (TLewis4095)
I had Nittos...now have S02s. The Bridgestones are a lot better tire all around. I highly recommend them.
The S03s are more of an all-weather tire.
The Kumhos have less grip than the Nittos or S03s.
I'd get the Nittos if you're on a budget.
My $02

Bandit,
Just did this same thing. Researched all the RF's and NRF's and came up with these

Pic is courtesy of Black Magic, but these are the same tires I ordered. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Zero Pressure.

I don't think I can go wrong with S03's and that is what I am leaning toward. They are $875 shipped from TireRack.

How do you fit the larger tires on the stock rims? I am just about ready for new tires myself and like the look of wider Z06 type tires but am concerned with fender clearence and road noise etc. Also is it a shorter tire...meaning does it fill the wheel well like the standard size? I don't wamt to look like one of those teenagers cruising in a rice rocket with skateboard size tires!

The current issue (Dec. 2002) of Sport Compact Car mag, p. 215 has a comparo article with Pilot Sports, BFGs, and Kumho. Different sizes, of course, but might be of interest.

Hey Now:
I got the Bridgestone SO3's about a month ago and have put around 1,000 miles on the tires. The big improvement was LESS ROAD NOISE and BETTER RIDE. Without the stiff sidewalls of the RF the difference is huge. Traction seems as well or slightly better than was the new Goodyear RF. Just don't think you can go wrong with the SO3's. :smash: :smash:

Looks nothing like a rice rocket. It's the maximum that I would recommend that you can go above and beyond stock sizes and maintain ride integrity while gainng a bit of a larger look, without looking disproportionate. Fender clearance is no problem at all and road noise is much less than with run flats. I have my car lowered approx. 1" so the wheel well issue I cannot comment on. I've seen stock rims (non-Z06 sizes) with 265's up front and 295's in the rear which looked absolutely silly in my opinion, but they did mount on the rim.
