very strange. no prior issues with her at all, meter has always read normal, no hesitation on start up ever, then today--I come home at lunch, get back in around 5, turn the key and CLICK, blank out. pop the hood, no hood light. clicking noise from engine compartment. key is out, guages are going crazy. hook up the charger, clicking increases in loudness and frequency. posting from home so pages load very slow so I didn't do a search yet. any ideas? :seeya

Sounds like your positive battery post may have broken, you are describing EXACTLY what happened to my C5 when mine broke.
If it's the OEM type Delco battery you have in there then I'd be surprised if this wass NOT the problem.
If so you'll need to get a lot of battery acid out of everywhere under the battery including ther black flex cable covers!
If it has leaked acid flush it out real QUICK before it dissolves your PCM and main cable harness that are directly below the battery!

...best of luck - I'd agree, it does indeed sound like your Interstate may have gone "out of state" !
