Stopping Hurst Shifter Rattle

Stopping Hurst Shifter Rattle
I know this has been mentioned before, but my hurst shift rattled like crazy above 3k rpms. I had read a lot of solutions but decided to try the wheel weights and dynamat. Used the stick on wheel weights around the shifter shaft in strips of 3 or 4, all the way around. I then took the dynamat and wrapped it around the shifter shaft about 3 times. Took it for a test drive, and the rattle was completely gone. I was kind of amazed it was that simple.

Melting Slicks
I cut the stock shifter off, threaded it down and found a small ball at Twistedshifterz.com and I love it.

My C5 Hurst also rattled, as I remember, years ago, I crimped the female threads in the stock shift **** and no more rattle for almost 18 years now. Love the Hurst.
You wouldn't think it's the shifter **** because it didn't feel loose but it stopped it. Didn't try it but maybe Silicone adhesive might work. It doesn't take much of a crimp, careful.
Cheers, Curt

Wow, that’s what that damn rattling is? The FRC I bought a couple months ago has a Hurst shifter **** and the damn thing rattles like crazy. The sound and feel
of it drives me up the wall.
i was thinking something was wrong.
more incentive to replace it with a C6 ****.
