Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Zero Pressure
These look like my next set of tires. Damn good reviews compared with fair to good for Firestone and terrible to fair for Goodyear EMT's course I'm already deaf from trying to wear out set of these. Anybody tried these on the Forum?? :D  :flag

My run flats are almost shot. I am also thinking seriously about these tires. Might be a good idea to post thread in tire section if you have not already done it. They are available in stock C-5 sizes but very expensive at the Tire Rack. $1300 shipped. Has anyone else priced these tires elsewhere and found a good deal ??

Everyone that has them seems happy with them, while they are still run flats, you can not drive flat the distances that you can with the goodyears. I'm just going to go with regular tires and take my chances, they are half the price, lighter, and better.

Just placed the order with The Tire Rack! Should be delivered Thursday from Indiana. I called four major Tire Dealers here in the NorthEast. No Stock and earliest delivery was Oct 28th. Tire Rack had em and they ain't cheap ($1300 delivered) but they sure "sound" like an improvement to the "Run Craps"! No pun intended!!    :D  :flag

I have them and really, really enjoy them. They are nice and quiet with a smooth ride. Beats the hell out of the GY's. The distance you can travel on a flat was the only downside of these tires.......50 miles recommended as opposed to GY's 200 miles. I bought mine locally for $1400 installed, including alignment. I plan on buying a 12 volt air pump to use on air leaks while travelling to compensate for distance issue.

I got the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Zero Pressure tires about 1 1/2 months ago.
They appear to hook-up well on the drag strip. :D
I had my best 1/4 mile time two weeks ago.

Jim,
I put on the A/S Zeros with the HRE's about 3 weeks ago. Drove to Bowling Green for the Z06/Power fest and let me tell you it was like driving a new car. :) :) My old EMT's had 22,xxx miles a were noisey. The ZP's are quiet and the ride is much smoother.

George,
That sounds like a winner! I hope to see those two stacks of rubber in my driveway by Thursday night. I know they at least left Indiana!! :D  :flag

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Zero Pressure (Jim Dawes)
I just put them on my 98 coupe and love them. I had Goodyears and the ride and noise is much improved with the Michelins. Regarding the run flat distance, I love the ability still drive with a flat (I had an experience in the mountains where the run flats saved considerable grief) and personally don't plan to drive 50 or even 100 miles with a flat.

I plan on getting a set myself once the GYs wear out. I don't know if anyone else has read about the new GY Eagle F1 runflats, but supposedly GY is trying to fix the shortcomings of the current OEM RFs. The part I found interesting was that the new tires are limited to 50 miles like all the others.

If you are talking about the runflat ones, these are a very nice tire. I have them on mine. They discontinued the runflat model I have heard.

I don't think the GY Eagle F1 are available in a runflat configuration. If so, please provide the link.
You do not want to go back to the Goodyear OEMs. I had the Firestone Firehawks and they were SOOOO much better than the Goodyears. I even had a flat in the Firestones and they worked as advertised.
If anything you will save yourself a few $100s by getting the Firestones....

Here (hopefully) is the link to my post on this topic. I still like the tires by the way!

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Zero Pressure (Jim Dawes)
Last month I spoke with the Michelin rep for zero pressure tires. He informs me that the 50 mile driving range was on the earlier zero pressure tires which had sizes in 60 profile available as well as the lower profile tires used on the C5. Higher profile tires will not run as far deflated as the lower profile tires.
The new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZPs are indeed expected to run typically 200 miles, just like the original equipment Goodyear EMTs.
The deflated tire driving does not normally affect the tires repairability unless the extended driving damages the tire in places other than where the original puncture occured.
Again, this information is current and given to me by the man who is responsible for the Michelin ZP tires. I had emailed my questions a few days ago and this rep Mike telephoned me today with the information.
My Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZPs now have 16K miles on them and I would not hesitate to buy them again.

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Zero Pressure (mozin)
Out of interest, what does your product literature say? And, also, if it's 50 miles could you elicit this updated information via email from your contact? I just checked Michelin's website and it still says up to 50 miles at up to 55 MPH.
I'm interested in the ZPs but experience tells me that 50 miles is insufficient in which to find a repairer. Hell, I've been having trouble even finding a nearby installer willing to accept drop shipments let alone finding someone to fix a puncture whilst away on a trip.

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Zero Pressure (Green Hornet)
I am traveling on business, but my wife called and said that Fed Ex had left 4 large pieces of rubber on the driveway. She actaully cut the banding and took them in the house for me. As soon as I can get to them I will take down all the info (runflat distance, wet/dry traction etc) and put it on the Forum. She said they look good!!  I guess that is about all I can expect. Tires have never been Janet's thing. I guess tires are a "man's thing"!! :D
