Charging System Fault
I've seen some post about this issue and wondered if anyone had remedied their problem if similar to mine.
I get a charge system fault when starting (90%) of the time in my 2001, automatic trans so I have the alternator with the clutch.
When the car starts it reads about 11 volts. Give the gas pedal a light tap (2k RPM) and the voltage goes up to 14 where it should be and stays until the next time I start the car. Ideas?
It's been doing this for 4 years now... but I rarely drive the car. Battery is good and fully charged (it has a battery tender on it).

WELL,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, If it were me, the very first thing that I would do is either REPLACE that damn alternator clutch assy/Alternator Decoupler Pulley or at least TEST it.
Here is a LINK for you:

just had to replace my alternator. the one i got from the local parts store of course gave me the charging system fault. inside the packaging was the testing sheet. the rpm in which the alternator activates is 2200 rpms. this is why you get the fault. got my original rebuilt today. will put it back in and return the reman acdelco i got. the decoupler only prevents the belt from chirping when going from park to drive/reverse in an auto car.
