HVAC head unit
Dual control HVAC head unit unit on a 98 coup... The unit workes but the center display on the head unit does not light up.. Dark / Black out center display.. What are my options Replacement / repair..

You can open the back and there are eight surface mount resistors that need to be re-soldered. Over time of heating and cooling the thin solder gets week.

There are several FORUM detailed fixes on this issue.
If you cant solder, find someone that can and have them resolder the resistors. It takes about 10 seconds on each resistor with a small soldering iron.
That's all there is to it.

Hvac head unit
I have been checking and reading all the infor that was suggested to read... One thread had a menber state if it is dimm only it can be repaired.. A repaired unit guide looks like a winner , but as stated my unit all works fine except the center display is blacked out.. The fact that it is not dimmed in the center display but blacked out eliminate my attempts to repair....

Mine went from dim, them to DEAD.. I soldered the resistors and its back to OEM bright!
