Default The most comfortable and cost effective clutch for 500whp

I need to buy a new clutch for my 97 C5 base. Like the title says, I'm looking for suggestions on what is the most comfortable and cost effective clutch I can buy that will reliably hold 450-500whp.

What's good and what's not for the C5?

McLeod RXT twin disc. It drives great. Holds lots of power. Easy pedal pressure. No noise.

Hinson has them in stock.

The McLeod dual disc clutches do a great job.

I'm running the RST version with over 500 rwhp and it performs very well. Very street friendly and no issues.

Monster stage 2 is rated to 550 rwhp and very streetable.

The twin disc options are far from being the most cost effective although I'm sure they are very good.

The best driving clutch, will be the LT1-S street twin. However its not the cheapest. If you haven't looked at it yet, check out the Level 2 single disc.

Feel free to give us a shout if you have any questions. (817-750-2000, Jacob@monsterclutches.com)

I run a Mantic ER2 single. Not a hiccup at 480rwhp NA or 600+rwhp on Nitrous.

Driveability is stock like.

Others suggested so far are solid too

I can't afford any of the twin disc options so single discs are on my radar. I'll take a look at the Mantic single and that LT1-S clutch. Thanks guys

Some other threads suggested the ACT clutch... any feedback on that one?

Repl my Spec 3+ with Mantic 9000 while motor was out. Bought it slightly used off here. Spec held my 500+ motor fine, but it was tough on the leg. So far, Mantic is way better for dd. Will see how it does at the track.

Honestly, I ran an LS7 clutch and flywheel with a Tick MC while I was NA. I was pushing 482 RWHP and just over 500 RWTQ and that worked without issue. Only switched to an RST this year when I went to an SC build.

LS7 is very streetable and can be a good economical option. As long as you're not out there dumping the clutch left and right, this would be just fine. Check with Cultrag..Im sure it would on be economical.

The GM LS7 gets my vote for this application. Or the Monster level 1 as long as you stay on the 450 HP side.
